Your Room of Requirement’s Vivariums are where you can place and interact with the Pokemon-esque Beasts that you find during your journey as a Hogwarts student. However, if you attempt to put too many creatures of one type within these pocket environments, you’ll receive the message saying you’ve reached your “species limit” in Hogwarts Legacy. Naturally, such a predicament can be quite annoying, especially when trying to fill your meadow, beach, or swamp with a group of adorable Shiny Nifflers or Fwoopers.

Can You Increase Vivarium Species Limit in Hogwarts Legacy?

The “Active Beast” limit of your magical mini-zoos is 12, but it’s not possible to add more than 4 species into a single Vivarium. That said, the only solution in Hogwarts Legacy to resolve the “Species Limit Reached” issue is unlocking more Vivariums. You’ll gain access to your first meadow biome Vivarium after the Main Quest, “The Elf, the Nab-Sack, and the Loom.”

Each new Vivarium is a unique biome and can accommodate up to 12 creatures of 4 species. But to get them, you must reach a definite story stage and complete some quests:

  1. Beach Vivarium

After you complete the Astronomy Class and The High Keep quests, you will receive the Plight of the House-Elf quest. Completing it will unlock the Beach Vivarium.

  2. Meadow Vivarium

To unlock the Meadow Vivarium, you must complete the Phoenix Rising quest. But first, you must complete Niamh Fitzgerald’s Trial quest and find Deek to talk to him.

  3. Swamp Vivarium

To unlock this Vivarium, you must complete the Foal of the Dead quest.

With these three additional Vivariums, you can “fix” the species limit by placing the different types of Beasts in separate biomes.
