Hollow Knight: Silksong Silksong release date
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information.

Other than Housemarque’s Returnal, which presents its own set of issues, chiefly sourcing a PS5 amid a global pandemic, there’s not much to look forward to for those partial to testing their mettle with devilishly challenging games. From Software remains unnervingly quiet about Elden Ring, and news emerging today from developer Team Cherry isn’t all too promising, either: Hollow Knight: Silksong won’t be making an appearance at E3. Reading between the lines, it safe to assume a long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong release date announcement isn’t on the cards for the near future.

That’s according to Team Cherry’s one-person PR and marketing arm, Matthew โ€˜Lethโ€™ Griffin, who dropped into the official Hollow Knight Discord server earlier today to share the news. Amid a steady stream of speculation and anticipatory chit-chat about Hollow Knight: Silksong, Griffin revealed that Team Cherry had no plans to announce anything at this year’s digital-only version of E3, set for early next month.

Hey guys! I just wanted to pop in to let you know that Team Cherry does not have any announcements/blogs scheduled for E3 this year.”

Hollow Knight: Silksong in ‘Final Testing’

A DLC-turned-sequel to the acclaimed debut, the game was first announced back in early 2019. Team Cherry has yet to commit to a firm Hollow Knight: Silksong release window, but earlier this year, another Discord drive-by from Matthew โ€˜Lethโ€™ Griffin raised hopes it wasn’t too far off.

You could say “we’ve finished all the content of the game and are in final testing” but even THAT doesn’t say anything about release schedule – my owner personal philosophy is that you should not announce a release date until you have a build that could be released, and then you’re just giving yourself some time to fix additional bugs and market a game.

Team Cherry plans to launch Hollow Knight: Silksong on PC, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch. Release date? Still TBA.
