Cara Delevingne is looking back at a very difficult time in her life. The British native recently opened up about dealing with the trauma of her house fire. Delevingne, who lost her $7.8 million mansion, revealed what made it easy to bounce back.
In an interview with The Times, the model revealed she turned to sobriety to help with her sanity. โIt sucks, but everyone was safe, and, like anything, if Iโd not been sober, I would still be reeling over that,โ Delevingne shared. The 31-year-old explained that she is now more focused on moving forward despite the huge pain the house fire caused.
“Of course, it affected me, it’s super sad, It never wonโt be. But I don’t use it as a tool to keep myself sad.”

The English actressโ house in Studio City, California, was destroyed back in March. Delevingne was away in London, making her musical debut in Cabaret, when the fire broke out. Unfortunately, her two cats and a person were on the property. Luckily, fire officials rescued the beloved pets, with the human treated for smoke inhalation. The model shared an emotional statement to confirm the fire. “My heart is broken today. I cannot believe it. Life can change in a blink of an eye. So cherish what you have.”

Delevingne’s 8,000-square-foot home suffered extensive damage. According to the Associated Press, firefighters battled the blaze for about two hours. One firefighter was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries but was in fair condition. A rep for the LAFD said that the fire was raging from the rear when they arrived.
Although the Los Angeles Fire Department ruled the cause of the fire as โundetermined,โ Delevingneโs parents think otherwise. The actressโ father told TMZ that an electrical malfunction sparked the fire. โPower lines. Very windy there,โ he said. The Paper Towns actress purchased the home in 2019.
