If you have the Ultimate Edition of Remnant 2, you can start playing the game early. It’s a great time to dive in, especially if you have friends to play with. While cross-platform play is uncertain, you can still play with friends if some people have copies of the game. Unfortunately, it’s not obvious when you can start co-op since the game requires jumping through some hoops. Fortunately, co-op isn’t hard, and you can start playing with others immediately. Here’s how co-op works in Remnant 2 and how you get started.

How Co-op Works in Remnant 2

To start a co-op session, you must first pass through the tutorial. This means going through the game’s prologue, reaching Ward 13, and finding the important merchants to you. Follow Ford and touch the crystal, which should teleport you to another area. Before that scene, the game will mention that you are offline to players, and they cannot join your session. Once you regain control after touching the crystal, you get a notification telling you that other players can join your game.

Having other players help you explore the world of Remnant is comforting, especially if you aren’t sure you picked the right class. Maybe you lack a Medic and need some healing as you learn. Perhaps you want to work with a Gunslinger to get some ammunition. To start connecting, go into your System settings and ensure that you allow other players to invite you. You can choose from:

  • Public: This allows anyone and everyone who plays Remnant 2 to join your session.
  • Friends Only: Only friends in your Friends List can join your games.
  • Offline: Other players cannot see you or join your session.

Once your settings are enabled, you can start inviting friends to join your game. Anyone can find and join your session if you are using Public settings. Friends can also invite you to their session if they want your assistance.

If you want to play with others, you can always change your settings to reflect that. The same is true if you want a solo session. You don’t have to play with others and can freely change your settings anytime. Be careful if playing with others, though, as this may impact their ability to join your game.

Now that you know how to start a co-op session in Remnant 2, you can start coordinating sessions with other players.
