The Ark: Survival Ascended Crafting Skill is extremely important, but it’s often overlooked because the game does little to actually explain what the heck it does. If you’ve ever been on a boosted server, you’ve probably put a point or two into it for the sake of finding places to drop level-up points and noticed a bit of a difference in your crafting speed, but there is more to it. Your Crafting Skill actually determines how much of a boost to crafting speed and crafted item stats you get. The higher it is, the better.

The Crafting Skill can be vastly useful in a handful of situations. Remember that time you were building a base and had to wait ages for more building materials? All you needed was a few level-up points into the right attributes. Every point that you put into Crafting Skill reduces the time that it takes to craft things from your inventory. While this is great, it still doesn’t reduce the time it takes to craft at external crafting stations, but that can all be done passively and doesn’t slow down your movement speed or increase your frustration in the process.

Additionally, the Ark: Survival Ascended Crafting Skill helps a lot once you’ve made it farther into the game and picked up some blueprints. When it comes to blueprints, you might notice that they already have set durability and weapon damage or armor ratings. The higher you level up your Crafting Skill, the more those stats and numbers also increase. For instance, while a base blueprint for a Metal Pike might have 112% weapon damage, if you have your Crafting Skill up high enough, you might be able to increase that number up to 212% weapon damage. The same goes for saddles and armor. You can increase the base armor percentage by increasing your Crafting Skill.

Ultimately, you should avoid being one of those players who looks over the Crafting Skill Attribute when you level up. Make sure to throw some points into it so you can craft faster and create much better items from blueprints while you make your way around The Island.

Jordan is an experienced fantasy writer who spends hours behind her laptop, and lost in the pages of a book. She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
