After you complete Restoring the Zora Armor and begin Sidon of the Zora in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll have to complete The Broken Slate. The Broken Slate is an additional main quest that you must complete within Sidon of the Zora. It involves repairing an ancient broken slate so that it can be read and deciphered to help solve the sludge problems surrounding Zora’s Domain. Keep reading to learn how to complete The Broken Slate with Jiahto in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Completing The Broken Slate

To begin with, Sidon will send you to speak to Jiahto, a historian working with the prince, to help get to the bottom of everything going on. Jiahto can be found in Toto Lake, an area near Mipha Court. You can find Toto Lake by looking out over the Northwestern edge of Mipha Court. Here, you should see a waterfall of sludge that appears to be flowing backward and up into the sky. The sludgefall originates in Toto Lake.

The easiest way to get to Toto Lake to speak to Jiahto in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is to glide down from Mipha Court toward the sludgefall. This should bring you decently close to the area you are looking for. When you arrive, you should see Dunma standing on a platform. Upon speaking to Dunma, you will find that there is a cave nearby where you can find Jiahto.

Head inside the cave and speak to Jiahto to begin The Broken Slate quest. After listening to Jiahto talk for some time, he will send you out to find the missing piece of the Ancient Slate. To find it, head outside the cave and look to your left.

Here, you will find the slate covered in a thick coating of sludge. Using a Splash Fruit from your inventory, clear the sludge from the slate and pick it up using Ultrahand.

Repositioning the Broken Slate

Rotate and reposition the slate piece as much as you need to so that it will fit into the gap where it came from in the cave and position it in the hole. When it fits correctly, a cutscene will begin, and Jiahto can finally read the slate’s script. Ke will tell you to consult King Dorephan about the slate, thus completing The Broken Slate.

Jordan is an experienced fantasy writer who spends hours behind her laptop, and lost in the pages of a book. She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
