Are you looking to complete the side quest Who Goes There in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? This side quest, which takes advantage of the game’s new cave features, introduces the player to an important game mechanic: the Horned Statue. The Horned Statue allows players to trade heart containers for stamina vessels and vice-versa, essentially allowing players to respec Link at any point in their journey through Hyrule. There’s an element of personal choice involved here – do you prefer high health or high stamina? The Horned Statue offers you this choice after you find it in the side adventure “Who Goes There?”

In order to unlock Who Goes There, you’re going to need to have completed one of the four major dungeons in Tears of the Kingdom. These dungeons can be accessed by following the early-game “Regional Phenomena” quest and finishing one of the regional questlines. It doesn’t matter whether you complete the Hebra, Eldin, Zora or Gerudo regional quests, but one of them needs to be completed before Who Goes There becomes available.

With one of the regional dungeons completed, travel back to Lookout Landing by way of the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower. Climb down the ladder in the middle of the settlement to get to the emergency shelter. Directly behind the ladder, you’ll find Jerrin, an upset cleaning lady standing next to a hole in the wall.

Speak to Jerrin, and she’ll explain that she accidentally created the hole with her broom. Ever since she created the hole in the wall, however, she’s been hearing a mysterious voice whispering from somewhere on the other side of the wall. Offer to investigate the voice for Jerrin and you’ll receive the “Who Goes There?” quest.

First things first, crouch down to enter the hole to discover the Royal Hidden Passage and follow the hallway until you come to some rocks. Smash the rocks with a hammer or bomb and continue on, then turn right. Smash the rocks here and you’ll discover a small alcove with a horned statue in it. Interact with the statue and it will reveal itself as the source of the voice, marking your objective as complete. You can return to Jerrin here to complete “Who Goes There?”, but if you want to investigate the horned statue further, keep talking to it to receive the side quest “A Deal With the Statue”.

What is the Horned Statue in ‘Tears of the Kingdom’?

The Horned Statue will explain that it exists to “tamper with your essence” and steal one of your heart containers. Ask for it back, and the statue will offer you a choice between receiving a heart container or a stamina vessel. Whatever you choose, the statue will give it back to you. From now on, you can sell the statue a heart container or stamina vessel for 100 rupees, and you can buy either one back from the statue for 120 rupees. For example, you could sell the statue one of your heart containers and get 100 rupees in return. Then, you could go to the statue and buy a stamina vessel for 120 rupees, or vice-versa.

Once you’re finished talking to the statue, go back into the emergency shelter. Talk to Jerrin again and she’ll give you 20 rupees, officially marking the Tears of the Kingdom side quest “Who Goes There?” complete.

Tears of the Kingdom is available on Nintendo Switch.
