Mohg likes dirty places in Elden Ring, and apart from that bloody pus-filled hidden palace, Mohg also inhabits the sewers in Leyndell. Thus, you get to fight Mohg twice, much like his brother Morgott/Margit. This Mogh, The Omen boss in the sewers is more of a projection or a clone– but that doesn’t mean it’s an easy fight. Here’s how to beat Mohg, The Omen in Elden Ring.

Where to Find Mohg, The Omen in Elden Ring

Mohg, The Omen is easier to find compared to his main version in Mohgwyn Palace. All you have to do is progress through the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds under Leyndell, Royal Capital. It’s a bit of a maze, but nothing a little perseverance can’t help with.

However, the whole Subterranean Shunning-Grounds area is easy to miss. So we’ll need to focus on finding it.

  1. Start from the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace.
  2. Go down the stairs and turn left immediately at the bottom. Ignore the Leyndell Knight with a bow.
  3. Jump over the balcony with the golden Teardrop Scarab.
  4. Look for a well in a ruined corner due north. Drop down this well.
  5. This well leads to the Shunning Grounds.

Preparation is key to winning this optional fight. It’s fairly straightforward and you only have to worry about the blood attacks and the trident’s deceptive range.

Before you fight or before you step into the arena again after a defeat, you’ll want to make sure that you have the following stats or recommendations:

  • Ensure your character has at least 30 Vigor. More HP means you can afford more mistakes.
  • Upgrade your weapon to at least +15 (if +25 is the max) or +6 (if +10 is the max). You don’t want this fight to last longer than a few seconds and strong weapons help.
  • Keep your equipment load at Medium either by using lighter armor or pumping up your Endurance stat.
  • You want at least 8-10 Crimson Flasks.
  • This boss cannot be parried
  • Shields don’t work well here due to the Hemorrhage

Additionally, the Mohg, The Omen will become more powerful if he successfully inflicts Blood Loss on you, so don’t let that happen (often). Practice rolling through the attacks instead of blocking them since Hemorrhage will still build up even if you block the Mohg’s attack.

His blood attacks also have a delayed explosion, so you will want to practice dodging twice whenever Mohg uses those blood sorceries (such as the fiery blood claw and the blood throw). If you can get used to those attacks, then you only need to worry about the trident swings and thrusts which are straightforward mechanisms.

Apart from summoning a Spirit Ash, such as the Mimic Tear, there is another way to cheese the Mogh, the Omen boss fight in Elden Ring. You need a special item that’s tricky to find. It’s called Mohg’s Shackle.

Here’s how to find Mohg’s Shackle in Elden Ring. Luckily for you, it’s along the way, somewhere in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds.

  1. Start in the Underground Roadside Site of Grace in Subterranean Shunning-Grounds.
  2. Go outside into the large corridor area and look for a ladder that leads down.
  3. Drop down that ladder and go into the large pipe area.
  4. Jump down the pipes until you get to the bottom, in the area where the two giant crayfish enemies spawn.
  5. Mohg’s Shackle is on a corpse pile right next to a water outlet.

Once you have Mohg’s Shackle, equip it on your quick-use slots, ideally right next to your Flasks. During the fight with Mohg. The Omen, use Mohg’s Shackles as you would a Flask. This will stun Mohg and leave him prone. Attack him while he’s in this state. He’ll recover shortly after.

You can also use Mohg’s Shackle to interrupt Mohg‘s spellcasting. Last but not least, Mohg’s Shackle also works with the actual Mohg, Lord of Blood so keep it in your inventory and item slots. This is how you beat Mohg in Elden Ring easily regardless of the version.
