If you thought Lala Barina was the most terrifying arachnid-like creature in Monster Hunter Wilds, wait until you meet Nerscylla. This one is a proper spider creature capable of sending you to sleep, poisoning you, and even getting you stuck on a web if you’re not fast enough. In addition, it can even summon other small foes to make the fight even more challenging. Overall, it is one of the most brutal fights in the game, and unprepared hunters will have a challenging time.
Nerscylla Weaknesses

We’ve talked about the bad, but let’s move on to the good parts or, rather, weak parts. Nerscylla is a touch monster to crack, but that doesn’t mean it’s invulnerable. While it only has one weak point, it has many breakable parts. This is great, as you’ll be able to do consistent damage to it. Yet, before we talk about the weak parts, you should try to bring the following elements to the fight:
- Fire (In certain parts)
- Thunder (In certain parts)
- Paralysis
We’ll talk in-depth about the Fire and Thunder elements in the strategy section, but regardless of that, bring a weapon of each element. By now, you should be able to craft a Fire-infused weapon from Quematrice materials and Thunder-infused weapons from Rey Dau materials. Bring one of each because you’ll be swapping them during the fight. Alternatively, you can bring a Paralysis weapon for the whole fight, but we recommend the two-weapon combo more.
Regarding its weak points, Nerscylla’s pincer is the one you should focus on. While you can break its claw, mantle, and both stingers, its pincer is the weakest part and the one that’ll receive most of the damage. However, hitting the pincer might be hard, as it isn’t always out. But when it is, make it your priority.
Hunt Strategies

Let’s move on to the fun part: hunting Nerscylla. As we mentioned above, Fire and Thunder are effective here. However, you need to use them during different periods of the fight, as one will be effective but the other won’t and vice versa. Let us explain.
- When attacking the mantle, use Fire attacks.
- Nerscylla will have a mantle around its body and legs, which is easy to identify. To break it, you need to use Fire attacks. Raw damage works, too, but Fire is much better. Using Thunder here is not a good idea since the mantle is resistant to Thunder.
- After breaking the mantle, switch to Thunder attacks.
- Once the mantle is gone, equip your Thunder weapon and hit any of the abovementioned breakable parts. This will cause a lot more damage to its uncovered body.
- Watch out for its swinging attacks.
- Nerscylla will swing around the arena like Spider-Man and will try to sting you while doing so. If you time your attacks, you can bring Nerscylla down and stagger it for a bit.
- When the small enemies spawn, kill them first.
- We still have to confirm this, but it seems the small spiders can put you to sleep. When they spawn, defeat them quickly.
- Bring many Energy Drinks and Antidotes.
- This might be an obvious tip, but bring the above items to remove the sleeping and poison status. Also, bring a few Cleansers in case you get webbed.
If you’re having a hard time following any of the previous tips, you can focus on Nerscylla’s legs. They don’t have a lot of protection, and you can do some good damage to them. Defeating the monster will take longer, but it is certainly the safest approach.
