Magmortar, which you may remember from Gen 4, is the latest evolution of Magby, a fire-type Pokemon, and it can be quite difficult to get. You can’t find it in the wild, instead, you’ll need to follow a few steps to trade Magmar and thus evolve it into Magmortar in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: The Indigo Disk. You can get Magmortar almost from the beginning if you have enough BP and follow our tips.

To add the latest evolution of Magby to your Pokedex, you’ll need to follow these steps:

  • Find a Magby or Magmar.
  • Purchase a Magmarizer.
  • Trade Magmar using Magmarizer, provided that another player also offers Magmar in exchange.

If you’re lucky, it shouldn’t take you long to complete the steps. The first thing you need to do is catch a Magmar. You can find it right away, or catch a Magby and train it to level 30 to evolve into a Magmar. Both Magby and Magmar can be found in the wild if you explore the Terarium. They usually spawn in the following habitats:

  • Coastal Biome
  • Savannah Biome

Just walk around these places and have a close look at the local Pokemon. When you finally get a Magmar, you can move on to the next step.

The next step is to get a Magmarizer. This is an item that you can get in two ways. One of them is more costly and the other requires a time investment, so let’s talk about each of them in more detail:

  • Purchase: The more expensive way is to buy a Magmarizer from the School Store for 250 BP. If you have just started playing, this option will not be available at first, so just partially progress through the game.
  • Partially Fill Pokedex: If you don’t want to spend your hard-earned currency, you can use an alternative, namely registering 140 Pokemon in the Blueberry Pokedex. This is more time-consuming, but if you’re not in a hurry to get Magmortar, it’s a good solution.

Regardless of the method you choose, once you have the Magmorizer, you can proceed to the last step to get the Magmortar.

So, the last step to complete can be quite difficult if you don’t have a friend playing with you. To evolve Magmar into Magmortar, you’ll need to follow these steps:

  • Interact with the Magmarizer.
  • Create an exchange offering to trade Magmar.
  • Find a player with the same offer.
  • Complete the trade.

The main problem with this method is that it can be quite time-consuming to find the right trade. But, once you receive Magmar from the exchange, it evolves into Magmartar. If you are playing with a friend, it is much easier to do this. You can simply make two exchanges to give your friend a Magmar, and then get back a Magmartar.
