Monster Hunter Now‘s second subspecies or variant event is now underway. In October 2023, the location-based game finally introduced the thorny rose Pink Rathian. With it comes one of the most anticipated weapon updates as well, a new Dragon element weapon. Let’s read up on the details about the Monster Hunter Now Pink Rathian event and what kind of armor and weapons you can craft below.
Monster Hunter Now: Where to Find Pink Rathian
Just like a Rathian, Pink Rathian can be found in Forest areas after completing Chapter 9. Nevertheless, similar to the Black Diablos event, at first, this monster subspecies will be quite a rare sight. But once the event nears its end, Niantic will increase its and the normal version’s spawn rates. Personally, so far, I’ve only encountered it once randomly during a walk to the store.

Pink Rathian event duration:
- Monday, October 9, 2023, 9:00 AM to Sunday, October 15, 2023, 4:00 PM.
Rathian and Pink Rathian increased spawn rate periods:
- Friday, October 13, 2023: from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
- Saturday, October 14, 2023: from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
- Sunday, October 15, 2023: from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
How to Defeat a Pink Rathian
Defeating a Pink Rathian takes pretty much the same approach as the normal one. The Monster Guide mentioned that it “displays different behavior” compared to the regular one. However, in my extremely limited experience facing it, I didn’t see the Pink Rathian perform any unique moves.
In terms of weaknesses, it also works the same as a regular Rathian. Pink Rathian in Monster Hunter Now is weak against Thunder and Dragon weapons. Bring your best Tobi-Kadachi weapons when you’re about to fight one!
Do keep in mind that Pink Rathian will only appear as a 5-star Monster. That means it can take a beating and will hit hard as well! Just be careful of its tail swipes, as it can inflict Poison and eat up your precious health without notice. Its charged fire breath attack will also deal much higher damage than a normal Rathian’s, so don’t get too comfortable attacking its head.
Pink Rathian Weapons and Armor in Monster Hunter Now
The most interesting thing about this subspecies event is its weapon. But let’s list Monster Hunter Now Pink Rathian armor pieces that you can craft first. As seen below, its armor set is unsurprisingly pretty good. A Grade 6 Pink Rathian Waist will give you Critical Eye Level 2. You can also finally replace Pukei-Pukei Chest with this one if you’re looking for Focus.

Have you noticed all the Dragon Attack bonuses? Yep, a Dragon weapon has finally been added to Monster Hunter Now with the Pink Rathian update! That’s the good news. The bad news is that it’s only available for one weapon type for now: the Bow. Better luck next time, Blademaster melee users.
Aside from the Dragon Bow, you can make a Poison Long Sword and Sword and Shield with its materials.
