Bladestone Fragments are uncommon items that help with future weapon upgrades. They aren’t a common item to find, unlike other collectibles like Warning Lamps. You will have to search for them in a manner similar to Affinity Growth Unlock Kits, though you won’t get to enjoy their benefits right away. You must get to a point in the game where you can actually start using them on your weapons, but it helps to get a collection of Fragments first. When the option to upgrade becomes available, you might be unable to take advantage of it if you haven’t been looking.

Finding Bladestone Fragments is difficult because they aren’t obvious like collectibles in the overworld. You must search for them off the beaten path, finding containers that hold them. Despite their Common Rarity, they fall under the classification of Key Items, which means you aren’t going to find them by going on the beaten path. The containers that hold Bladestone Fragments usually involve some exploration, forcing you to make the most of your abilities to find them.

The search is worth it, but it helps to have the X-Reader point out container locations to save time. The X-Reader’s Key Item Sensor will help you detect when a Key Item is available. This may conflict with the Treasure Sensor, but they often overlap since you will find Bladestone Fragments with other objects. Not all containers will contain the Fragments, but if you keep following the Key Item Detector’s signal, you will start finding more of them.

There aren’t many “set” locations to find the Fragments since they are all over Aionios. If you want to make the most of your weapon upgrades, you must scour every possible path as you go through the story. You won’t find everything in the beginning, but as the story progresses, you will gain access to more areas.

If you haven’t picked up the Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed DLC and want to experience the world before the main story, now is a great time. For players who are feeling rusty and need some practice, reloading the main game should help you get some practice. Keep in mind that the DLC introduces some new twists to the combat formula, and it’s not exactly the same as the main story.
