While there are many materials in Pacific Drive, one of the most important during the early hours are Chemicals. These bottles are crucial to making repair kits, and sadly, they are hard to come by. Furthermore, and contrary to other survival games, you can’t just craft or synthesize them, meaning you’ll need to explore almost all roads in the game to get a good stack of Chemicals for your base. But, after a bit of trial and error, we found some ways to obtain them fast and easily.

When playing Pacific Drive, the only way to get materials is by exploring routes, using the friendly dumpster, and scrapping certain, meaning those are the only ways to get Chemicals. While things like Scrap Metal or Plastic come from different sources, there is only one confirmed place where you’ll get Chemicals, and that’s inside certain buildings, usually the ones that look like research stations. Inside them, there’s a chance you’ll encounter a Hazmat Locker that can include Chemicals or Cartridges. Since everything is procedural in the game, here are some tips to increase your chances of finding these materials:

  • Open the route planner and toggle the map legend with “V” or “R3.”
  • Look for a route that has a high building density.
  • Craft at least two Prybars and Impact Hammers.
  • Head to the route and try to loot all buildings before the storm arrives.

One thing to remember is that even if the building density is high, this doesn’t mean you’ll find Hazmat Lockers in every structure. However, there’s a higher chance of getting them, so it’s worth exploring.

How To Use Chemicals

The primary use for Chemicals during the early hours of Pacific Drive is to craft Repair Putty. Since your vehicle will sustain a lot of damage while trying to escape a route, you must repair its parts lest you want to end your run early. So, you can see why there is an urgency to find Chemicals. Another thing you can do that will cost a lot is craft new parts if you don’t have enough Chemicals. You can always scrap the vehicles around the garage, and by choosing a zone with high vehicle density, you’ll get even more Scrap Metal. Ultimately, the choice is yours, but always try to plan your journey when scavenging for materials and try to pack every tool before hitting the gas.
