This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

Even though the world of Sanctuary has never been a place for quiet walks, the second season of Diablo 4 has brought a lot of even more deadly creatures for you to defeat. One such enemy is The Beast in the Ice, a terrifying level 85 monster that attacks with ice attacks. But before you can even try your luck in this monster battle, you’ll have to spend countless hours in Diablo 4 searching for Distilled Fear. This ingredient is the main component of The Beast in the Ice summon, and you will have to complete more than one Nightmare Dungeon to obtain it.

The only way to get Distilled Fear in Diablo 4 is to complete Tier 30 Nightmare Dungeons in World Tier 4. Although the chance of getting Distilled Fear by completing Nightmare Dungeon is high, it is not 100%. However, the difficulty or length of the challenge does not affect the drop rate. So you can choose what you like or that matches your power level.

If you’re new to the game, it’s worth noting that Nightmare Dungeons are a more challenging version of the regular dungeons you can visit using the Nightmare Sigil. You will be able to get your first Nightmare Sigil as a reward for the Grim Favor Cache. But in the future, you will have to visit the Occultist in large cities to create a Sigil to visit certain dungeons. Moreover, in Nightmare Sigil for Tier 30+ Nightmare Dungeons, you are required to reach World Tier 4. So, you will have to go quite a long way before you have a chance to find Distilled Fear.

As we said earlier, the only use of Distilled Fear is to summon The Beast in the Ice boss. To do this, you must accumulate nine Distilled Fear and 250 Sigil Powder. Next, you can visit the Occultist and create a Glacial Fissure Nightmare Sigil.

Using this Sigil, you can activate the Glacial Fissure Nightmare dungeon. But because The Beast in the Ice Boss is one of the strongest bosses in the game, the entrance to the Glacial Fissure dungeon will only appear on World Tier 4. You only need to go to the southern part of Fractured Peaks and find the entrance to the dungeon at the eastern border of the Desolate Highlands area.

How to summon The Beast in the Ice in Diablo 4

Once you enter the Glacial Fissure Nightmare dungeon, The Beast in the Ice will almost immediately fall from the ceiling, dealing cold damage in a radius. This enemy has a variety of targeted and AOE attacks, but they are all Ice-based. We advise you to stock up on potions and amulets and equip Sapphires to resist this type of attack. But more importantly, do not rush to challenge this boss.

Put simply, to summon The Beast in the Ice in Diablo 4, gather nine Distilled Fear items. Then, proceed as follows:

  1. Visit the Occultist in the game.
  2. Navigate to the ‘Craft Sigils’ section.
  3. Create a ‘Glacial Fissure’ sigil.
  4. Access your inventory and utilize the ‘Glacial Fissure Nightmare Sigil’ to initiate its corresponding Dungeon.

Being a Nightmare Dungeon, you will only have three chances to die. And boss level 85 and the title of one of the strongest bosses do not inspire confidence in your success. Moreover, given the difficulty of summoning this enemy, you should increase your level as much as possible. However, once you defeat this formidable enemy, you can receive several cosmetics and many powerful class items.

To sum it up, here’s what you need to know about Distilled Fear in Diablo 4:

  • You can receive Distilled Fear as a random drop for completing Tier 30+ Nightmare Dungeons.
  • You can find this material in the Consumables tab.
  • Once you have collected 9 Distilled Fear, you can spend them on creating a Glacial Fissure Nightmare Sigil.
  • Using Glacial Fissure Sigil in World Tier 4, you can summon and defeat The Beast in the Ice boss.

Diablo 4 is available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
