A significant part of your time at Starfield will be spent on building and crafting. The main resource in many crafts is Structural Material, and players often lack it. Next, you will learn how to get Structural Materials in Starfield. If you like to colonize planets by building outposts, you’ve probably already encountered this problem. Don’t worry, we have a few options you can use to make your life easier.

We have thoroughly explored the game and found 4 main methods that you can use to get Structural Materials in Starfield, namely:

  • Looting foprosts.
  • Purchase.
  • Obtain from plants and animals.
  • Grow manually at outposts.

Some of these options will be less efficient, but you may enjoy the process more. So, let’s not waste time and talk about each of them separately.

Loot Outposts

This is probably the least efficient way to obtain Structural Materials in Starfield. Your main goal will be to explore planets searching for enemy or abandoned outposts to visit and loot them. Thus, it may take you more time to do all this, but this method will be useful if you don’t need plenty of resources, and you are just exploring planets. The downside to this method is that you can’t be sure that the outpost you find will have enough resources, or if it will have any at all. So, if you don’t want to bother, and you’d rather kill enemies, this option is perfect for you.

Purchase From Vendors

If time is of the essence for you and credits are not a problem, you can buy Structural Materials in Starfield from traders on different planets. Yes, it will be more expensive and if you build a lot, it may not even be profitable, but it will save you a lot of time in searching for this resource. In general, we have found several traders who will gladly sell you Structural Material in exchange for credits. It is not difficult to find them because they are located on well-known planets in their shops, namely:

  • Jemison Mercantile – New Atlantis.
  • Shepard’s General Store – Akila City.

Once you get there, you may have a problem with the fact that the merchants have few or none of the resources. Do not make hasty conclusions because you can wait for some time to restock the merchant’s inventory. Explore the planets some more, or just get some sleep, and thus, when you return to the store, you will notice that the item is now available, or there is more of it. Thus, if you have enough credits, getting the required amount of resource will not be a problem.

Get From Plants and Animals

The most effective option among all of the above is to manually collect the required number of resources from the flora and fauna. Your goal is to find the planets that are most populated with plants and animals. Among the ones we’ve explored, we can highlight some of the best, namely:

  • Oborum I
  • Moloch II

So, all you have to do is land on a planet and start searching. By finding plants and killing animals, you can figure out which ones give you Structural Materials. For plants, we can give you one great method. When you find a good plant that gives you a resource, such as Laga, scan it to see where the largest deposits of that species are on the planet. When you find them, collect Structural Materials and then use the Eternal Harvest power, if you have it, to regrow plant supplies. This way, you can quickly and efficiently obtain the amount of material you need.

Grow Manually at Outposts

This is probably the most difficult, but no less effective way to obtain Structural Materials in Starfield. To farm the resource manually, you need to put in a lot of effort and skill points to level up the following skills:

  • Botany
  • Zoology
  • Outpost Engineering

Thus, by building an outpost for growing plants and animals, you can get an almost infinite number of resources. Over time, you can develop your outpost more and more and get even more Structural Materials accordingly. If you like this method and don’t mind doing some gardening, the results will amaze you.
