This season, Bungie threw us for a loop. They added in the new Destiny 2 Exotic quest to obtain the Wish-Keeper Exotic Combat Bow, but they did it in a way that would ensure we got it if we wanted a chance to complete the season’s questline as well. The objective to complete the Exotic quest to get the Wish-Keeper appears in week four of the Wishing All the Best quest, and you must finish it in its entirety before you can move on and complete the weekly mission steps. Let’s take a look at how to do it.

How To Complete the Starcrossed Exotic Mission

To begin the Starcrossed Exotic mission, you need to make it to step 29 of the Wishing All the Best Seasonal Quest. Once you’ve done that, you can head into your Quest tab from the Director and launch the mission straight from your Quest interface. Alternatively, you can head into the Director and access the H.E.L.M.. From there, you can access Starcrossed, which can be found right next to The Coil and Riven’s Lair nodes.

Traverse the Black Garden

As you enter into the mission, you’ll come to your first objective: Traverse the Black Garden. You might recall this location if you took part in the Garden of Salvation Raid. First, make your way through the tree branches and leaves to make it over the chasm below. Your primary goal is going to be to climb your way up to the brightly lit door above you. There will be a few enemies in your way here, but nothing too extreme.

Approach the Structure

Your next objective will expect you to approach a structure. As you enter the wide-open area through the doorway, you’ll find yourself surrounded by enemies, but they’re relatively simple to take out. Kill them quickly and make your way closer to the structure.

Sire's Obligation

When you approach the edge of the platform, you can walk through a lit circle on the ground that gives you the Sire’s Obligation buff. Sire’ Obligation will make it possible for you to damage certain enemies, like Obdurate Phalanx. Take the large tree branch that will lead you to the other side of the chasm off the edge of the platform.

When you approach the next door, you’ll probably notice a symbol over the door, as well as a symbol hovering in the air just above an Obdurate Phalanx. You must kill the Obdurate Phalanx in order to unlock the door and progress through the mission. However, you should keep in mind that you can only damage the enemy if you have the Sire’s Obligation buff active still.

Open the Way

Head through the door and collect the Sire’s Obligation buff one more time. Here, you will come across three more Obdurate Phalanx enemies. You need to make sure you still have the buff, otherwise damaging them will be impossible. Each of the Phalanx enemies will have a symbol hovering near the area they spawn in and must be taken down in the order of the symbols by the door.

When you first enter the room, you should take out the enemies in this order:

  1. On the right side of the room
  2. On the left side of the room near the Cyclops
  3. In the lowest, center portion of the room

Traverse the Garden

Now, head in through the newly unlocked door and traverse the tunnels until you make it to the Overland area. Hop over onto the Roost and collect the Dam’s Gift buff. This one will stay active for 44 seconds and will allow you passage into each of the orange doorways. If you don’t have the buff active when you cross over the barrier into the next area, you will get the Unwelcome effect and start taking damage as long as you are in the area without Dam’s Gift.

Access the Transit Mechanism

As you make your way through the doorway protected by Dam’s Sire, you will locate a new open area. Just after you head inside you will find the Transit Mechanism, featuring three floating red crystals. Each of the crystals must be activated by defeating a large enemy.

Riven will tell you that your path is blocked, but you can unlock it using Paracausal Energy. There are multiple doors within the area, each containing a Paracausal device, an enemy, and requiring you to have the Dam’s Sire buff. Head inside each room, defeat the Gatekeeper Wyvern, and Imbue the device with Pracausal Energy. Repeat this process until all three of the crystals are gone and you’re free to continue on your path.

Eliminate the Vex

As you head back into the main area where you found the Transit Mechanism, you’ll find the location is now swarming with Vex enemies. Make your way through, killing each of them to progress. There will be a Malignant Wyvern and Covetous Mind enemy among them, so be careful. Once you’re finished, enter the Transit Mechanism, then begin to traverse the garden again by completing the jumping puzzle.

Much like in the beginning, you’ll come across more Obdurate Phalanx enemies, and three seals that must be broken in order to make it through the next gateway. This time, you’ll need the Dam’s Gift buff again so you can damage the Phalanx enemies. Once all three are dead and you have unlocked the gateway, head through.

  1. Defeat the first Phalanx using Sire’s Dam near the gate
  2. Defeat the second Phalanx using Crowned by Dragons in the same location as the first Phalanx
  3. Defeat the third Phalanx through the doorway on the left using Crowned by Dragons
  4. Defeat the fourth Phalanx through the doorway on the right near the first two Phalanx fights using Dam’s Gift

As you enter through the gateway, you’ll encounter a huge Vex enemy who is protected my Ahamkara magic. Using the Paracausal Energies, kill the Vex. This fight will be pretty chaotic and will take some time. If you’re running it alone, be sure to use a Well of Radiance, or something that will keep you healed up, as there are quite a few harpies and goblins that will spawn while you’re trying to take down Akardon, Pitiless Mind.
