This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

An end-game area in Super Mario RPG, Monstro Town is home to monsters who escaped from Bowser’s army and Monstermama, an elderly Toad woman. Aside from its unique populace, you will need to get here to be able to access Bean Valley and face the post-game secret boss. Getting there can be a bit tricky, no thanks to some obstacles blocking your path. But don’t worry because we will lay out everything you need to know to find this secluded cliff-side settlement.

To be able to reach Monstro Town, you have to go to Land’s End first. Get past the first couple of screens by using the cannons. After the cannon parts, you will need to do a bit of platforming. If you fall at the screen with four Geckits in it, you will have to start again from the previous screen. Once you reach the field with spinning flowers, just jump on top of them to get to the higher platforms. Fall from the highest cliff and you’ll arrive at the desert area.

Hop on the floating platforms and cross the gap. Don’t worry, there are invisible barriers that prevent you from failing this segment like the Tadpole Pond’s bridge. Ignore the cannon and exit the screen to your right.

Now speak with the friendly Rat Funk, he will tell you exactly how to pass this area. Get inside one of the whirls or just walk to the next screen. Locate the whirls and wait for a bit until a Shogun Ant pops up from one of them. Step inside the Shogun’s whirl and keep doing it until you fall into the underground area.

Drop down the platform and hit the floating chest for a Super Star. You should be able to use it to defeat all enemies up to the third screen. Once you’re at the area and see the hole, jump straight down through it. There are a ton of Geckits in this part, but you don’t have to defeat any of them! Just navigate through the gaps and head to your right to reach the exit. However, you can also buy another Star from a Shaman hidden behind boxes just to the left of the springboard.

Now, you’ve arrived at Belome Temple. The Shaman here can give you access to a shortcut back to the surface for 100 Coins. Get past this screen and you’ll meet a fortune-teller Shaman and Belome statues “puzzle.” Pay him 50 Coins and the Shaman will tell you your fortune after dealing with the statues. Depending on the order you hit the statues’s tongues, you’ll get a different fortune, reward, and variation of enemies on the next screen.

Now jump onto the falling bricks to get your fortune told and towards the pipe on the next screen. Claim your rewards, or defeat any spawned enemies, then keep going until you meet another Shaman and Belome statue. Like before, hit the tongue and it will drop a piece of paper.

If the paper reads, “Mmm, I’m so hungry! Wish I had something to eat!” that means you can go forward and fight Belome. But if it reads, “Sorry, I’m not accepting visitors past my bedtime” you’ll find the treasure room instead. If that’s the case, just exit, keep going back to the statue, and hit it until you get the correct paper.

Afterward, defeat Belome and his clones for the second time in battle. It’s going to be a tough fight, so use area-of-effect skills to defeat them as fast as you can. Be careful of Belome’s Aurora Flash which can induce party-wide Sleep! Once the Super Mario RPG boss has been dealt with, you can finally reach Monstro Town.

To summarize, here’s what you need to do to reach Monstro Town in Super Mario RPG. You can also check out Gamerpillar’s video walkthrough below in case the area layout still confuses you.
