There’s no shortage of loot in The First Descendant, and Amorphous Material is one of them. There are numerous variants and tiers for the Amorphous Material since you need them to craft various Descendants and weapons. It’s also not enough to obtain them; you also need to know how to use them (and unlock them). So, I’m here to simplify that process for beginners; here’s to get and use Amorphous Material in The First Descendant.

Generally, you can check the rewards section of each mission node to see if they drop Amorphous Material variants. However, these specific missions typically reward them the most.

  • Reconnaissance / Zone Recon Mission
  • Duty of the Descendant / Calling of the Descendant
  • Special Operation
  • Mine Blocking
  • Void Intercept Battle (Hard)

Are you seeing the pattern here? Missions that last 15 minutes or longer are typically the ones that reward the Amorphous Materials. Meanwhile, short missions, such as Battlefield Missions or Normal Mission and the like don’t usually reward Amorphous Material.

Reconnaissance and Duty of the Descendant Missions are typically the most accessible or the easiest to finish if you have low-level Descendants and weapons.

That means you will need to be more proactive in how you accept your missions if you want Amorphous Materials. Additionally, it’s not enough to get Amorphous Materials; think of them as in-game loot boxes where you have a random chance of giving the crafting component you need when you open them. Here’s how to open them.

Now that you presumably have your supply of Amorphous Material in The First Descendant, it’s time to crack them open. To do this, just participate in Void Intercept Battles (boss battles). Both Normal and Hard will give you a chance to open your Amorphous Material once you have finished the boss battle.

Do take note that there’s a random chance of getting whatever is on the list of Amorphous Material reward table. There are typically several crafting materials on the Amorphous Material reward table, but you can only get one.

That very well means you need to hoard Amorphous Materials in bulk, and you will also need to keep repeating the Void Intercept Battle boss fights to open them. It is better to have a target Descendant or weapon to farm so you can maximize your effort in obtaining Amorphous Materials for them.

You can check where to get their specific crafting components (and from which Amorphous Material they drop) from Anais in Albion. Good luck out there with the grind.
