There are several resources for players to collect in Starfield, yet many are curious about how to use Caelumite. The rare material is a type of stone you can mine during main story missions in the game. Like most materials, you need Caelumite to craft valuable objects in the game to help you with your adventure in space. You can also sell Caelumite to obtain extra credits, but the material is worth more for crafting. Fortunately, this resource isn’t too difficult to find and mine in Starfield.

One of the main story objectives is discovering and exploring Artifacts, mysterious objects that are part of the Armillary. It is believed the Armillary was invented by an unknown alien species long ago. You will encounter Artifacts while completing the main story missions of the game.

Near every Artifact location, there should be a deposit of Caelumite for you to mine in Starfield. Caelumite appears as a bright turquoise stone sticking out from the walls and floors. This resource is commonly found in the caves or rocky surfaces near an Artifact. You will need to search around to make sure you don’t leave without mining it. You can collect Caelumite with the Cutter.

If you accidentally finish the story mission and leave the Artifact before mining Caelumite, you can always return to where the Artifact was last located. Artifacts locations can be found on your mission log.

What Is Caelumite Used For in Starfield?

At first, Caelumite is most useful as a resource to be sold off in Starfield. You can sell Caelumite for a lot of money, depending on what vendor you do business with. However, unless you’re desperate for money, it’s a good idea to stock up on your Caelumite.

Once you’ve reached a high enough spacesuit crafting skill level, you can use Caelumite in Starfield to craft a Helmet Mod. Specifically, with four stacks of Caelumite, you can make Gravitic Composites, a Helmet Mod that reduces detection from enemies and improves the value of whatever gear you’re wearing. It’s one of the most useful mods in the game for stealthy players, so no matter what, never sell all your Caelumite.

Starfield is available exclusively on the Xbox Series X|S and PC.
