Once you step your feet into Sakurajima Island, you’re bound to find the Dog Coins currency sooner or later. Finding them is one thing, but spending them is another, as most Merchants won’t accept them. You might wonder, what can these weird chips be used for? Is this some kind of Web 2.0 cryptocurrency trick? Turns out, you can use the Dog Coins you get around Palworld Sakurajima for some exclusive items.

You can get Dog Coins from two different sources scattered all over Sakurajima:

  • From looting Scrap Piles.
  • By catching Mimogs.

The Scrap Piles themselves are just random junks in fixed locations you can interact with on the island. They will be covered with leaves if you find some in the forest area. From our observations of playing around with the Palworld Japanese-themed update, usually you can get 19-25 Dog Coins per Pile.

Meanwhile, Mimogs are Pals that always spawn randomly on Sakurajima Island; they have no fixed spawn location. To make things worse, they won’t drop Dog Coins when defeated and butchered; you must capture them before they run away. Thankfully, at the very least, these chest-shaped Mimic dog Pals are very easy to spot once they show up. A Legendary Sphere throw to its back guarantees instant capture as well. You’ll get 14-21 Dog Coins from standard Mimogs in Palworld, while the Alpha ones can give you 35 Coins.

Medal Merchant is willing to trade the Dog Coins you get from exploring Palworld Sakurajima for special items. Unlike dapper coat-wearing Wandering Merchants, the Medal Merchant is built like a truck, wears yellowish garb, and always serves you with a smile. Who wouldn’t trust that pearly white grin? He can be found very close to the Forgotten Island Church Ruins Fast Travel point, at -456, -14 coordinates. Below are the items the Merchant has to offer.
