How To Increase Rapport in Unicorn Overlord

Love on the battlefield.

After going against an evil army, it’s only normal for your soldiers to develop relationships between them. Unicorn Overlord has an in-depth rapport system that lets you get bonuses and other narrative elements by increasing it. While it’ll take a while to improve your relationship with others organically, there are other ways to make those you rule friendlier toward you. So, as long as you have the gold, the time, and the drive to befriend an angel or furry character, you should make time to become the friendliest ruler in Cornia.

How Does Rapport Work in Unicorn Overlord?

Rapport is a stat you can increase by performing certain actions in Unicorn Overlord. Each character has a rapport level with the protagonist and other members. It’s extremely similar to the systems we’ve seen in the Fire Emblem franchise. To increase it, you can do any of the following things:

  • Deploy characters in a specific unit.
  • Give them gifts while stationed in towns.

The easiest way to build rapport in Unicorn Overlord is by giving them gifts. However, it’ll take some time to start doing this, and you’ll need a lot of gold, so it isn’t recommended as an early-game priority. Instead, bring any named characters to your unit and have them fight together. Doing so will make them start building a relationship as a team.

While this is an entirely optional thing in the game, we recommend focusing on it, as there are many bonuses after increasing rapport. First, you get to unlock cutscenes between your cast members, which are great for those keen on learning more about them. Secondly, you can also get stat boosts when characters with high rapport levels fight in the same unit. Overall, becoming friends with someone can make your campaign much easier. So, don’t be afraid of wooing or befriending some of your soldiers. You might not be the best leader, but you’ll be the friendliest and most romantic one.
