The latest update for Cyberpunk 2077 has made it so that the game is officially the version that was promised when it was first announced. However, this means that with a new update comes new ways to mod. The base game has a whole series of different mods and workarounds for in-game features and gameplay that, without them, some players would feel like they aren’t playing the optimal version of the game. To make things easier on you, we outlined how to mod Cyberpunk 2077 (2.0), which ones are currently available, and how to install Cyber Engine Tweaks below.

Yes, you can mod the latest update for Cyberpunk 2077, though not without jumping through a few hoops. Each mod within Nexus Mods has its own installation instructions, which can make the process a little trickier for some. However, initially installing mods is the same regardless of which you’re trying to use. The steps to install mods are as follows:

  • Create an account on Nexus Mods and search for the Cyberpunk 2077 mod of your choice.
    • Select the Download: Manual button that appears next to the mod you want to install the file.
  • Be sure that you have a zip file extraction tool like winrar, WinZip, or 7zip.
    • Unzip the folders that you downloaded in the first step using either of these tools.
  • For Steam users, right-click on the game in your library and go into the Properties followed by the Local Files tab and the Browse Local Files selection.
    • For GOG users, go into the game’s Settings and select the Manage Installation button followed by the Configure setting.
  • Once in the game’s files, you will need to read the instructions provided on the mod of your choice’s page to ensure that you are placing the mod in the correct folder here.
  • Launch Cyberpunk 2077 to ensure that your mod worked after completing all the steps above.

Unfortunately, just because you’re able to install the mods, doesn’t mean that they’re all available. In fact, not all of the mods for the base game have yet been updated to 2.0.

Best Mods For Cyberpunk 2077 (2.0)

The mods that are currently working for Cyberpunk 2077 (2.0) are core ones like Cyber Engine Tweaks and REDext. The former is a base-level building tool while the latter allows modders access to the game’s internal scripting. There is also a few more mods that have been updated to 2.0, but we think that the best ones are the following:

  • Cyberware-EX: adds cyberware slots and lets you install Cyberdeck, Dandevistan, and Berserk at the same time.
  • RED4Ext: a script extender for REDengine 4.
  • Material and Texture Override: this enables the game to load new materials.
  • Photo Mode Unlocker 2.0 XL: an overhaul of the game’s Photo Mode.
  • Unequip Mods: you’ll be able to unequip and replace weapon and clothing mods easily.
  • Cyber Vehicle Overhaul: overhauls every vehicle’s top speed, gearing, power handling, and brakes.
  • Pocket Radio: allows you to listen to the in-game radio while on foot.
  • E3 Visual Overhaul: provides a visual overhaul that makes the game feel more like the way it was presented during the E3 2018 trailer.

How To Install Cyber Engine Tweaks

In order to get into this base-building tool, you’ll need to follow these instructions:

  • Download the latest asset from this link.
    • Do not download the source code.
  • Unzip the zip file using one of the software we recommended above and drag the bin folder to the Cyberpunk 2077 game directory.
  • Ensure that all apps that add any overlays to the game are closed or disabled as they might not allow the mod to install properly.
  • Launch the game and choose your preferred keybind when you are asked in order to bring up the overlay at your leisure.
