Destiny 2‘s eleventh expansion, Lightfall, introduces new Darkness-based subclasses called Strand, which lets Guardians zip around like Spider-Man and other recently released games’ heroes. Looking at the current gaming trends (from AAA like Halo Infinite to indie like Grapple Hoops), it seems the grappling hook is in season again. Anyway, now having a fun tool to play around with, the Destiny 2 community also managed to find an exploit or glitch to fully utilize the grappling mechanic within mere days of Lightfall‘s launch. Let’s take a peek at how you can perform the infinite Strand grapple in Destiny 2: Lightfall.

Destiny 2: Lightfall – Infinite Strand Grapple

The “infinite Strand grapple” glitch seems to have been found by YouTuber Dûrithil, as seen in the Destiny 2 video where they performed the glitch above. According to the video description, this glitch happens when a Hunter tries to grapple into nothing; it will instead leave behind the Persistent Tangle grapple points, and you can grapple to those points for “free” without using Grenade Energy. Meanwhile, Grenade Kickstart Mod will give you Grenade Energy every time you use the grapple!

Obviously, that creates an “infinite Strand grapple” loop. But how does it exactly work, and how can you do it? Well, first up, you need:

  • To play as a Threadrunner Hunter.
  • Strand Aspect: Widow’s Silk.
  • Strand Fragment: Thread of Ascent.
  • Gauntlet Mods: Grenade Kickstart x3.

So when your Grenade Energy is “fully expended” from creating a Persistent Tangle point, the mod will refill the Energy again. Once you grab a grapple point, cancel it by pressing melee and then jumping. Doing this will allow you to gain more air time. Keep doing this process, and you can fly all over any area. As seen in the video, you can also use a Sword Strike before creating a new Persistent Tangle grapple point to cover more area in front of you.

It will take some tries and practice, but hopefully, you can perform and play around with this infinite Strand grapple before the Destiny 2 developer fix this “issue.”
