  • Resurrecting Through the Morgue

O’ death, thou hath taken someone away from us. Or, in other words, you brought an essential NPC to a quest, and they died for reasons only you and a Cyclops’ weapon can explain. Don’t worry; this happens to the best Arisen out there. While scary, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has an easy way to revive NPCs should something befall them. So, even if you bring your beloved to a date around Vermund and they get torn apart by wolves, death won’t be the end for them.

Wakestones Tutorial

The fastest way to revive an NPC in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is by using a wakestone on the spot. During your travels, you might’ve found the so-called wakestone shards. These little red glowing items are everywhere in the world, most commonly found inside black and gold chests or obtained as quest rewards. To make a wakestone whole, you must collect three shards first. The stone will be created automatically. Once you have it, approach the corpse of the recently murdered inhabitant and hold B or Circle to bring them back to life.

Let’s say during your travels, you had to accompany someone or ask anyone to tag along. Like in the above image, we brought Glyndwr to a quest, and a chimera kicked his royal butt. We didn’t have a wakestone at this moment, so what can someone do to bring him back to life? Wait for someone to bring his body or anyone’s to a morgue. Any NPC that dies in the game will find their way to a morgue. The location of the body depends on where the NPC died. For example, our elf boy died in Vermund, so we found his body in the capital. Finding the body there will take a few in-game days, so don’t rush it; the body can’t go colder.

Once you locate the morgue inside a city, which is marked with a coffin icon on the map, you have to pay 5,000 gold to search for the body. Once inside, you need to find the coffin and use a wakestone to revive them.

For whatever reason, we noticed reviving an NPC raises their affinity a lot. Now, we don’t say that killing someone you like and then reviving them is the best way to get them to like you, but it doesn’t hurt to try. Well, it won’t hurt the Arisen, at least.

So, let’s sum up what you have to do to revive an NPC in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

  1. If the NPC dies next to you and you have a wakestone, interact with the body to revive them immediately.
  2. If you don’t have a wakestone, head to Vermund or Batthal’s capitals.
  3. Enter the morgue by finding the coffin icon on the map.
  4. Pay the fee, which is usually 5,000 gold.
  5. Head to where the NPC’s coffin is and use a wakestone.

Once you do these things, your beloved will be back in the world to face griffins, ogres, and more dangers on the road. We’re unsure which fate is better but don’t hesitate to bring your mauled NPCs back to life.
