Your position in the registration queue will have no impact on your chances of being invited. However, space is limited, so not everyone who signs up will be selected as a tester. What Exactly is Battlefield Labs? Explained

According to the official site, Battlefield Labs is a testing environment where players can try out early ‘concepts and mechanics’ before they are publicly released. The Battlefield Studio released the playtest during a ‘critical phase in development,’ allowing the community to co-create alongside the development team.

As such, Battlefield Labs’ playtesters are promised to have direct input in shaping the next Battlefield game. Selected players will test features and provide feedback that will help create elements that truly feel authentic to the Battlefield series.

In short, Battlefield Labs is a closed beta play test that is only accessible to select participants. Like most other pre-release tests, players will have to agree to a non-disclosure agreement and cannot share or discuss their experience publicly.

The Battlefield Studio itself is a collaboration between four Electronic Arts’ internal development teams:

  • DICE, the main studio of the Battlefield franchise.
  • EA Motive, developer of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and the Dead Space remake.
  • Ripple Effect, Battlefield support developer and the studio behind Medal of Honor.
  • Criterion, developer of the Need for Speed series.

DICE is handling the multiplayer element, including destructions, class and squad play, vehicles, and gadgets, among others. Motive works on maps and cinematic single-player missions, while Criterion is the campaign mode lead. Ripple Effect focuses on player acquisition or how to capture new audiences for the long-running series.
