How to start the Dragonflight Questline in World of Warcraft

To get to Dragon Isles to begin the new quest line, you’ll have to purchase the World of Warcraft Dragonflight expansion and use a character at least level 58. Now that you’ve figured that out, there’s one more thing you’ll have to do to unlock travel to Dragon Isles for the first time. You’ll have to accept the Dragonscale Expedition questline. However, after you’ve made the expansion purchase and logged into the game for the first time, you will have already collected the first step in the quest, calling The Dragon Isles Await.

Whether you start the Dragonflight Questline in World of Warcraft as Horde or Alliance, you still end up in the same place.

  • If you are starting as a Horde character:
    • Head to Orgrimmar
    • Speak with Ebyssian
    • Speak with Kodethi
    • Speak with Archmage Khadgar
    • Head to Zeppelin Tower and wait for the Defiant Dragonscale to show up
    • Hop onto the Defiant Dragonscale, and you will be taken to Dragon Isles
  • If you are starting as an Alliance character:
    • Head to Stormwind City
    • Speak with Wrathion
    • Speak with Dervishian
    • Speak with Archmage Khadgar
    • Head to Stormwind Harbor
    • Speak with Storm Hunter William
    • Head to the dock that is farther South in the Stormwind Harbor and wait for the Rugged Dragonscale to show up.
    • Board the Rugged Dragonscale to be taken to Dragon Isles

Jordan is an experienced fantasy writer who spends hours behind her laptop, and lost in the pages of a book. She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
