This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

While many of the creatures in Lethal Company will attack once they notice you, others will try to scare you away before engaging in battle, and the Hoarding Bug is one of them. As their name suggests, the Hoarding Bug comes to abandoned sites to collect scrap, and they won’t give it up without a fight. Their small size makes them quite vulnerable, and therefore they do not like fighting. But boundless greed is a higher priority for them, and their high speed makes them a prickly foe. Fortunately, encountering these enemies is not too dangerous, but there are quite a few rules that you should be aware of.

As mentioned up top, Hoarding Bugs roam abandoned buildings to collect Scrap and will not attack Lethal Company players as long as you don’t disturb them. More specifically, they will try to scare you away from their supply of Scrap if you get too close. They will run up to you, move back, and make quiet sounds. Their behavior is similar to the Spore Lizard but there are still a few differences.

Upon first discovering a Hoarding Bug dancing around you, here’s how it will behave:

  • If you leave the room that the Hoarding Bug is in, you’ll be able to retreat and it will not pursue you. This monster will return to its things, leaving you alone.
  • If you ignore its threats and take Scrap from its supply, this creature will become incredibly aggressive and attack you. You’ve been warned!

How To Kill Hoarding Bug & Is It Worth It

The good news is that you can easily kill the Hoarding Bug, and you should. You can kill this enemy with 3-4 attacks with a melee weapon and easily defeat it even in a 1v1 encounter. But keep in mind that this is only true if you have full HP. Hoarding Bug’s attacks aren’t particularly strong, but you can die if the fight is protracted or you’re low on health.

As for the reasons why you should enter the battle, it is material gain. Hoarding Bug stocks can include many types of Scrap, including rare and high-value items. And after it dies, you can take it all for yourself. A simple battle is a low price to pay for a decent profit.

Finally, it’s worth adding an escape route that will help you avoid death in case of failure. If you enter a battle with low health, start running away and drop any of your Scrap items from your inventory. The monster will be distracted and will try and grab the Scrap. At the same time, you will be able to escape. Remember, Scrap is the highest priority for these creatures in any situation.
