Where & How to Unlock the Mystic Spearhand Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2
You can unlock the Mystic Spearhand vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2 by meeting Sigurd in Melve. Specifically, you’ll get a chance to get this awesome multidisciplinary class by completing the ‘In Dragon’s Wake’ quest. To do so, you need to check in on Melve often, as it’s a city often met with hard times and dragon attacks. Completing quests like Brothers Brave and Timid for Ian there will help speed this process along.
You’ll know you’ve got the ‘In Dragon’s Wake’ quest as soon as you reach Melve when it happens. Upon arrival, you’ll see a diseased-looking, pustule-ridden dragon attacking the villagers. Fend it off, and then speak to Sigurd, where you’ll learn the Mystic Spearhand vocation! Beyond this encounter, you can also find Sigurd in Harve west of Vernworth.
What is the Mystic Spearhand’s Starting Gear in DD2?
Much like any vocation, when you fully unlock them at the counter, you get the following when you unlock Mystic Spearhand in DD2:
- Initiate’s Blade (Duospear)
- Friar’s Hood (Headgear)
- Fencer’s Jacket (Armor)
These make for a powerful and agile loadout, allowing you to strike fear and rain spears into the enemy’s hearts.
What is the Mystic Spearhand Play Style in DD2?
Boasting possibly the coolest melee combat mechanics the game has to offer, the Mystic Spearhand is a versatile skillset. With starting melee skills like Twein and Magike Cut and heavy offensive attacks like Dragoun’s Stabbe, you can close in on enemies and seize the upper hand. They’re also great for a commanding offensive flurry against the bigger monsters you encounter.
The Mystic Spearhand’s default roll for Initiative is a natural 20 with how quickly you can charge into battle. It’s the powerful melee range of the Warrior, the agility of the Thief, and all empowered by magick, allowing a generous sampling of the game’s beloved combat mechanics. You can run them through with blistering spear combos, while also peppering enemies with magick that’ll leave them helplessly stunned before the onslaught.
