Running a cult is no easy task, as you must be prepared to make possible sacrifices and observe the death of your followers. However, there’s no death that cult leaders took to heart than the passing of the beloved mushroom enthusiast Sozo. You first encounter this eccentric yet friendly face in the Spore Grotto, discoverable after meeting his Mushroom Followers, aka the Mushroomos, in Anura. Once you complete his questline, the fungi leader unfortunately dies, likely due to the shroom growing out of his head. However, thanks to theย Sins of the Flesh Update, you can revive and unlock Sozo as a Follower inย Cult of the Lamb.ย

All you need to do to get the Sozo Follower in Cult of the Lamb is visit his home in Spore Grotto and retrieve the mushroom from his corpse. Named the “Seed of Sozo,” this item’s purpose should be quite obvious: Return to your camp and plant the fungi seed into one of your farm plots. Water and fertilize it, and a shorter yet just-as-quirky Sozo will pop out from the soil.

Theย Cult of the Lambย Sozo Follower doesn’t do much besides wandering your camp and occasionally munching on any full-grown Menticide Mushrooms, as is expected of the leader of the Mushroomos. He makes weird yet oddly cute noises and can be sent out on fetch quests via the Missionary. In short, gameplay-wise, Sozo doesn’t offer much, but I suppose many will be happy that he’s at least alive.ย

If you’ve not yet completed Sozo’s questline prior to the Sins of the Flesh Update, here’s a quick rundown of what needs to be done to unlock the Sozo Follower in Cult of the Lamb:

  1. Unlock the Spore Grotto via the Mushroomo encounter.
  2. Deliver Sozo 10 Menticide Mushrooms, which can be found in Anura or grown on farm plots. Slain Mushroom Followers also drop this resource.
  3. Give Sozo 20 more shrooms, and he’ll request that you build a Mushroom Sculpture at your camp. This Decoration is quite costly; you’ll need 20 Gold Bars and 35 Menticide Mushrooms.
  4. Tell Sozo that you built the structure and then return after a day to discover that he’s dead, after which you can retrieve the seed from his head to plant it.
