If you want the absolute best steeds in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you should consider upgrading them. It is highly doubtful that you will find a horse in the wild with perfect stats, but if you invest the time and effort, you can reach that plateau. With the use of the Horse God, not only can you revive them, but you can make them their true best self. Where is the Horse God, though? Here is how to upgrade your horses in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

Where is the Horse God in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom?

To upgrade your horses in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, you need to talk to Malanya, the Horse God. Since Breath of the Wild, she has moved her spring. Malanya Spring can now be found in the northeast corner of Hyrule in the Deep Akkala region. It is north of the East Akkala Stable and Jochi-iu Shrine.

The first time you arrive at the Horse God, she is locked away in her spring because she is too hungry. You need to give her an Endura Carrot. These are most commonly found near cherry blossom trees and on Satori Mountain. You just need to give her the carrot once, and she will open up for you.

After Malanya comes out, you can talk to her to revive or enhance your horses. The horse you choose does not need to be with you. As long as you have registered it at a Horse Stable, you will be able to upgrade it.

Unfortunately, the horse upgrade process is not free. You can choose between increasing one of the following categories:

  • Strength
  • Speed
  • Stamina
  • Pull

Each stat can have up to five stars in it. Each upgrade will require you to bring particular meals to the Horse God. The higher the stars that horse has, the more complicated and harder it is to get the meals. There will also be an increase in how many meals she needs for the better upgrades.

With fast travel and all the various vehicles you can build in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, upgrading your horse might not be worth it to you. There are only a few missions in the game where they are needed to pull a wagon, but for those who like riding around Hyrule’s countryside, you should consider it.
