Monster Spawner in Minecraft
This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

Monster Spawners are functional blocks inย Minecraftย that naturally generate in a world and spawn different hostile mobs. Unlike workstations, you cannot craft this block, and it cannot be relocated using Silk Touch. Fortunately, a Monster Spawner does not need to be moved in order to benefit a player. Other than the Silverfish Spawner, all Monster Spawners are an excellent way to farm mob drops and XP with little effort. For instance, you can utilize a Blaze Spawner in theย Netherย to farm an infinite number of Blaze Rods for your potion-brewing endeavors.ย

There are six variants of Monster Spawners inย Minecraft: Zombie, Skeleton, Spider, Silverfish, Blaze, and Magma Cube. Zombie and Skeleton Spawners appear in caves with cobblestone and mossy cobblestone, while Spider Spawners can generate in cobweb-filled mineshafts or the hidden cobweb rooms of Woodland Mansions. Silverfish Spawners appear in Strongholds, and Blaze andย Magma Cubeย Spawners are in the Nether.ย

A Monster Spawner inย Minecraftย will not spawn hostile mobs unless the player is within a 16-block radius of the spawner. Therefore, you will need to make sure you are nearby when you go AFK to farm resources and XP. There are plenty of tutorials and design ideas for ideal Monster Spawner farms, such as ones that use flowing water to push the monsters in a single direction. According to YouTuberย JayDeeMC, you can place a torch on top of a spawner if you want to deactivate its ability to spawn creatures.

An optimal way to use Monster Spawners inย Minecraftย would be to first ensure there is protection between you and the creatures spawning in the block’s space. Next, create a waterway or contraption that moves the monsters to one spot, where you can perhaps kill them with a sword or where they might fall to their death. Hoppers are an excellent way to collect the mob drops, removing the need for you to physically stand near the items to pick them up. For instance, you could have skeletons spawn onto flowing water that pushes them into a hole. This hole drops them to their death, and the bottom of this trap is filled with hoppers connected to chests where you can easily retrieve the dropped bones.ย

Minecraftย is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox One X|S, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.ย
