Paramount+ has officially announced that their reboot of iCarly is getting canceled after three seasons on air. Over the course of its runtime, the reboot was able to revive a long-dead children’s show and bring it to a more mature audience while still retaining a lot of its unique humor. The show has gained a lot of popularity among fans who grew up watching the original show from 2007, but even still, Paramount+ has announced that the iCarly reboot will not be getting a fourth season.

Premiering on Paramount+ in June 2021, the iCarly reboot picked up 10 years after the original series ended, following a now-adult Carly Shay (Miranda Cosgrove) as she reunites with her eccentric older brother Spencer (Jerry Trainor) and her loyal cameraman and best friend-turned-love interest Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress). With the help of Spencer and Freddie, her new friend Harper (Laci Mosely), and Freddie’s adopted stepdaughter Millicent (Jaidyn Triplett), Carly sets out to revamp her old webshow while grappling with all the complications of adult life.

The reboot gained a lot of traction with audiences who’d watched the original iCarly as children and now came back to the series as adults. Thankfully, the reboot also delivered many things people wanted to see when the original series ended in 2012, such as Carly and Freddie ending up together or more screentime for Freddie’s overbearing mother, Marissa (Mary Scheer).

Unfortunately, after three seasons on the air, Paramount+ made an official announcement earlier today stating that the iCarly reboot was canceled, according to Variety.

’iCarly’ will not be returning for a fourth season on Paramount+. The series had a great three-season run and delivered on what fans really wanted to see with Carly and Freddie finally getting together. We want to thank the entire cast, the writers, directors and producers along with the whole crew for their dedication, creativity and talent.”

The reasoning behind the cancelation was not explained, and it’s not currently clear how the show’s executives plan to tie up the loose ends from iCarly season three – or if they plan to at all. More information on the matter will likely be shared soon.

For now, be sure to catch all three seasons of the iCarly reboot on Paramount+.
