In a gripping TikTok video, Loki and The End of the F***king World actor Jack Veal discussed his tragic circumstances. His haunting first words were “I’m a famous actor, I’m 17, and I’m homeless.” In the following couple of minutes, Veal explained that he’s been sleeping on the street for some time. He ends his video with an empassioned plea for awareness.

Jack Veal posted a TikTok video on Monday explaining his unfortunate situation and asking for help. Filming through the front camera of his phone, Veal explains that his living situation is untenable. He’s been sleeping on the street after a difficult and abusive upbringing. The actor struggles with mental health issues, specifically mentioning autism and ADHD. He notes that he can’t find shelter with his grandparents due to his grandfather’s terminal illness. The main purpose of Veal’s video is to attract attention to his circumstances and seek potential help. He notes that social services have denied him care, pushing him to reach out to his fans for potential aid. After a walkthrough of the small, damaged trailer he’s sleeping in, Veal calls for help. His genuine request for assistance is moving, prompting more than 20,000 likes and almost 600 comments, at the time of writing.

Most audiences first encountered London-born actor Jack Veal when he portrayed Kid Loki in the first season of Disney’s Loki. That 2021 series was far from his first brush with stardom, however. Veal started his career in 2017 in the Sky crime drama Tin Star and the film My Name is Lenny. As with many young performers, Veal often portrayed younger versions of adult characters in flashback sequences. In Netflix’s The End of the F***king World, Veal played that role for Alex Lawther’s main character, James. He had a brief role in Yorgos Lanthimos’ beloved 2018 film The Favourite. His last feature film role was as one of Peter Pan’s lost boys in a 2020 movie called Come Away. Veal’s most recent TV performance came in the 2022 Amazon series The Peripheral. Veal has enjoyed a solid career with a lot of potential for future stardom, despite his circumstances.

Thankfully, this story is already moving in the right direction. Only a day after Veal’s original video, he posted an update. In that short post, Veal explained that social services reached out to Veal to seek a meeting. He is ecstatic as he proclaims the potential assistance or even foster care he could receive. Veal thanks his fanbase for spreading the message far and wide, but notes that there are still no promises. As Veal seeks a survivable situation, it’s worth remembering the many unhoused youths at home and abroad who don’t have any notable Marvel roles to fall back on. Here’s hoping for the best in Veal’s future. For once, the celebrity news infrastructure seems to have helped someone out.
