This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information.

First thing’s first, Iย am someone who loves Star Wars. Episodes 4-6 were experiences I can recall back to the age of 7 when a friend’s older brother lent me the coveted VHS collection. I remember literally standing up, staring at the ‘huge’ 27″ tube TV they had in their living room as it blared the Star Wars theme and the text scroll began. I was in, hooked for life.

Now this was the early to mid-1990’s, Star Wars was nothing new, and really the only way I could have ever known about these classics is by word of mouth. There weren’t any signs of a remastered and rereleased string of movies, and there definitelyย wasn’t any sign of a new trilogy on the way. I went almost completely blank, just knowing that Star Wars was a super fun and action-packed space movie! Since then I’ve come to have Return of the Jedi as one of my favourite movies of all time (yes, above Empire Strikes Back), and like many have returned to those Jedis over and over.

Star Wars – Episodes 1-6

Which brings me to my real reason for writing this article… I am avoiding all things related to Star Wars – Episode 7: The Force Awakens, or at least until I see the movie. I want to go in completelyย scotย free, no strings attached, no accidental spoilers, nothing! Clearly nowadays there’s no escaping the social media and news world around us. The entire world is going to be wrapped up in all things Star Wars (especially the week of its release) for a while, and I don’t want any of it. If I can go in as blind as possible, I will. Maybe to chase that original feeling I had 20 years ago, but also because I love this franchise so much, I just want to enjoy every last little surprise and character moment without seeingย any of it coming.

I’ve never actively done this with any movie or TV show, but I don’t think I’m the only one in believingย this movie isn’t any ordinary experience. It’s going to be tough, I already feel like I’ve seen too much with the most recent poster too. From what I have seen, though, including that epic first teaser trailer from 2014, I know the wait and “media cut-off” I’m implementing is going to be a real struggle. I’ve had co-workers replaying the newest trailer at their desk beside me, egging me on to join the excitement. Yesterday I almost caved, I could hear the score and blasters firing through his little Apple headphones. Star Wars was so close, yet so far.

Despite the newest news, rumours, videos, and photos out and around the internet, I’m not even going to post anything on this article I haven’t seen before. So enjoy the original teaser I just mentioned, and check out our coverage at TheNerdStash.com!

Let me know what you think of my “tactic.” Am I crazy? Habe you done something like this before for a beloved series or TV?
