While there are over 40 Popeyes restaurants in Connecticut alone, they can occasionally serve as the hotspot for some surprisingly unhinged altercations. Whether it be due to an employee calling a customer’s girlfriend “beautiful” in Missouri or because a customer decided to throw objects at the workers in California, fast food joints like Popeyes can be the perfect place for hangry customers to lose their cool. One impatient customer was caught having a verbal altercation with a Popeyes employee in Connecticut because she was making her wait a bit too long for her order. The footage is making the rounds online at the moment.
The one-minute video unsurprisingly takes place at a Popeyes counter in Connecticut, and sees a female customer, sporting a purple, blue, green tie-dye wash t-shirt and black leg-ins as she’s waiting for her food order. The beginning of the confrontation hasn’t been included so the buildup is a little unclear, but it appears as if the woman has been pressing the employee for her food order, and the Popeyes worker has told her, “Give me a minute” or something akin to that.
“What is your problem?” fires the customer, stood at the counter. “I said give me a minute, give me a minute. It’s mad people here. And that’s why I said give me a minute.” retorts the Popeyes employee. The ruckus is hard to make out as the pair continue to talk over each other loudly, but it sounds like the employee was talking to another customer’s husband at the same time as dealing with the woman shouting, which has caused some frustration to the female patron, as she has been made to wait even longer for her order.
As the irate woman continues to yell at the Popeyes employee, she can be heard hurling insults like, “Quit your job!” and “B*tch!” The furious lady also yells threats like, “I’ll slap the fire out of you! Don’t play with me! I’m being respectful!” Though that last statement is probably a bit of a stretch, as she’s coming across as incredibly rude. “I’m just asking you a question! What do you think I’m asking for? Why are you being nasty for? Now you don’t like it! Be careful what you ask for, b*tch! Don’t play with me!” yells the woman, as other patrons standing in the queue watch on in awkward silence. As the clip comes to an end, the woman hurls a final few insults at the employee as she makes her way to the exit,”F*ck outta here, bitch! You look stupid!”
With the video circulating online, social media reactions to the woman’s meltdown have been mixed, as some side with the hangry customer and others side with the Popeyes employee. One user over on Reddit wrote, “Itās just chicken. It can never be that deep.” while another chimed in penning, “People lose their sh*t when it comes to food. Even decent restaurants will get this shit. Itās like they know the person is tied down by the need for a job therefore they can run their mouth.”
Elsewhere, over on TikTok, one user sided with the Popeyes employee, expressing, “It annoys me when people say āIf you donāt like your job then quit.ā When in reality itās not the job we donāt like, itās people like this we donāt like to deal with and itās SUPER hard in the retail or food industry“. Others tried to pin down where the altercation took place, with one user asking, “This is in NYC..?” though the original creator clarifies, “Na CT“.
While the woman became irate at the Connecticut Popeyes worker after growing impatient with the wait time for her order, this incident speaks to how easily frustration in everyday situations can spiral into ugly public confrontations. Honestly, the best of course of action is to just be as patient as you can. Sometimes, however, impatience can get the best of us, even in everyday situations like this.
