Ariana Grande just made a huge confession. While speaking to her Wicked co-star Bowen Yangย and Matt Rogers on the duo’s Las Culturistas podcast on Nov. 6, the “Yes, And?” singer revealed her ideal plan for the next decade of her career. Up until now, she’s been putting music first. However, Grande admitted her priorities have changed. After playing Glinda in the Jon M. Chu film, she said she’ll continue seeking out more acting projects from now on. So, what does this mean for Grande’s music career? Here’s the deal.

Ariana Grande Is Ready to Get Back to Her Roots

During the Las Culturistas podcast, Ariana Grande admitted her upcoming plans will “scare the absolute sh*t” out of everyone. Since she’s been releasing a new album every few years since 2013, she knows any shift from her usual release schedule will be a huge adjustment to fans. However, they’re going to have to get used to it because she’s already made up her mind that she’ll start releasing music less. “I donโ€™t think doing it at the rate Iโ€™ve been doing it for the past 10 years is where I see the next 10 years,” she said.

Grande reassured fans that she’ll “always” make music and “go on stage” to perform. “I pinky promise,” she said. But moving forward, she’ll balancing it with acting. After all, it’s how she got her start in the industry in the first place.

At the age of 15, Ariana Grande began her career acting in the Broadway musical 13 in 2008. Two years later, she joined Nickeloden as Cat Valentine in Victorious. After leaving the show in 2013, Grande put acting on hold to focus on music. Over the past decade, she’s released seven albums, including her most recent record, Eternal Sunshine, in March.

Despite becoming most well-known as a pop star, Ariana Grande said acting in musical theater projects has always been at the “heart” of who she is. Filming Wicked has reminded her of that. โ€œReconnecting with this part of myself who started in musical theater, and who loves comedy, it heals me to do that,” she explained.

The star said she would “love” to find more acting projects and immerse herself in different characters. Since musical theater combines acting and singing, she thinks “it’s a lot better” for as a performer than just focusing on music alone. Fans should get ready because it sounds like Grande is ready to take the industry by storm all over again.

Ariana Grande will hit the big screen as Glinda in Wicked when the film premieres on Friday, Nov. 22. She’ll star alongside Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. The Jon M. Chu movie also stars Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, and more.
