Fans of Bioware’s line of RPGs can rejoice in the fact that EA has made Jade Empire free as part of its’ On the House promotion.

Jade Empire: Special Edition contains an epic story based in the world inspired by Chinese myths and legends. In order to defeat the most powerful enemies, players will have to master the greatest fighting styles. As players continue to improve, they will become masters of martial arts. Players will come across a colorful cast of characters that will help enrich their adventures by providing comic relief, rivalries, flirtations, and hostility.

Jade Empire was Bioware’s next game after the always popular Knights of the Old Republic on the Xbox. The game was well received by both fans and critics alike. In 2010, Jade Empire was featured in the book 1001 Video Games You Must Play Before You Die. On Metacritic, the game currently sits at 89/100 for the Xbox version and 81/100 for the PC version.

With Jade Empire being free on Origin, the same rules apply to it as all ‘On the House’ promotional games. You don’t have to be a member of Origin to download the game. Just download the Origin program and you can add the game to you library instantaneously.

Jade Empire was initially released on April 12, 2005.
