A video showing an interaction between Jazmine Cheaves and her baby son has caused a stir online. On Monday, The Shade Room posted the controversial clip, which appeared to have been cut from a live social media session. The video featured the internet personality talking to her fans while her five-month-old son, Blaze, screamed in the background. Fed up with the loud baby noises, Cheaves made a comment that quickly became the focal point of intense scrutiny.ย

“Blaze, I told you you’re not a girl, stop screaming,” she said.

A second or two later, Cheaves explained why she did that to her fans. The mom of one said that her son was in the habit of screaming all day.

“Yes, this is what he does all day, he just yellsโ€ฆI don’t like when he do that screaming s**t, he’s not a girl,” Cheaves said.

The video went viral quickly, earning Jazmine Cheaves lots of criticism. Many accused the internet personality of contributing to toxic masculinity. According to them, statements like that could lead to male babies growing into men who couldn’t express themselves. Some fans also pointed out that the baby noises from Jazmine Cheaves’s son were basic and done out of excitement. Other angry fans had nothing but insults for Cheaves.

Cheaves then described herself as the “best mom in real life,” not based on social media uploads. She thanked everyone for the love and support but clarified that she would no longer be posting her son.

She noted that fans could hate her but shouldn’t bring Blaze into the negativity. In another post on her Instagram story, Cheaves emphasized that she was a great mom. The hair salon owner also said she didn’t care about the public’s opinion. “One thing I know fashoโ€ฆI’m a great mom!! Yall can kiss my a** when it comes to mines,” she wrote. Fans have since responded to Cheaves’s words, clarifying that the issue is her attributing screaming to one gender.
