There are certainly strains in the Duggar family, as several relationships have required time and space. The family is still proving they can come together inย truly toughย times. Jim Bob andย Michelle Duggarย were there toย lend their support toย daughterย Jillย and son-in-law Derick Dillard in their time of need.
The Grandparents Attended Isla’s Celebration of Life
Earlier this month, Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard revealed that she had been quietly expecting when tragedy struck. At just four months, their daughter was stillborn. The two gathered with loved ones for a celebration of life dedicated to Isla, photos of which Jill shared on Instagram.
Along with a Bible verse, the bereaved mom wrote, “Isla Marie Dillard, ‘planted on earth to bloom in heaven.'”
In addition to Jim Bob and Michelle, there were a number of Duggars visible in the photos from the event, which included the release of pink balloons. Jessa Duggar Seewald, Jackson Duggar, Joseph Duggar, and Johanna Duggar are among those photographed at the event.
Longtime followers of the family were happy to see them get together, although it was under unthinkable circumstances.
“Itโs so beautiful to see everyone show up for your family and for Isla ๐ฉท Thank you for continuing to share these memories and experiences with us,” one commenter wrote.
Jill and Derick Have Been Estranged From Jim Bob For Years
Jill Duggar lastย opened upย about her complicated relationship with some of her family members earlier this year. In an appearance onย The Unplanned Podcast, she admitted she hadn’t seen both her parents at once since the birth of her son, Freddy, in 2022. She also noted that her and Derick’s rift with Jim Bob โ which began with them speaking their truth about the treatment they experienced while filmingย Counting Onย โ has impacted their relationships with her siblings.
We’re still on the road to figuring things out … If I’m getting together Iโm getting together with one of my siblings and things arenโt like they used to be, thereโs a part of me thatโs sad about that. I wish things could be like they were before. But at the same time, like I talk about in the book, would I trade [going back to] ignorance is bliss, this pseudo bliss, for where were at? No. I don’t just want to go back to living in this crazy, controlling environment.
