WWE wrestler-turned-actor John Cena is one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Like many celebrities, his personal life is often a topic of discussion. The Peacemaker star and his wife Shay Shariatzadeh have been married since October 2020. Although the couple maintains a private life, Cena loves talking about his beautiful bride whenever the opportunity arises.
During a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, the wrestling champion was asked what was his most prized possession. Cena replied, “The relationship with my wife.”
The couple, who celebrate their fourth anniversary this fall, are still going strong. When it comes to having a solid marriage, the Wipeout host shared what’s made their relationship a success.

How John Cena Found Happiness With Shay Shariatzadeh?
Shariatzadeh is Cena’s second wife. The Trainwreck actor was previously married to his high-school sweetheart from July 2009 to May 2012. Months after his divorce, he began dating WWE star Nikki Bella. The couple was featured on the reality TV shows Total Divas and Total Bellas.
Despite Cena’s reluctance to get married and have kids, he proposed to Nikki in April 2017 at WrestleMania 33. However, a year later, the couple called off their engagement.
It looked like Cena was destined for lifelong bachelorhood, but fate had other plans. In 2019, the actor was in Vancouver filming Playing with Fire when he met Shariatzadeh. The software engineer and her friends happened to end up at the same restaurant where Cena was dining.
Cena later revealed on The Howard Stern Show that although he was smitten with Shariatzadeh, he was too shy to make a move. However, all that changed when she and her friend came to his table for a picture. After taking photos with the group, Cena mustered up the courage to talk to Shariatzadeh.
I asked her for her number and she gave me her number, and I didn’t wait like the two days [to reach out]. I left the restaurant and on my walk home I [texted], ‘It was nice to meet you, you’re beautiful, I’d like to get to know you more if you have any free time coming up, I’ll make time for you.’ She’s like, ‘You want to go out this weekend?’ I said, ‘Sure.’
The couple became engaged on Valentine’s Day 2020, and eight months later married in a private courtroom ceremony in Tampa. In July 2022, the couple had another wedding, this time in Vancouver, a place near and dear to their hearts.
Shay Shariatzadeh has turned John Cena’s life around for the better. Although he has a tough guy persona, he’s a softie and romantic when it comes to his wife.
