Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash Hits Embarassing Player Count of 0

How could a JJK game do this poorly?

The first major video game adaptation of the hit anime and manga series Jujutsu Kaisen, titled Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash, has done extremely poorly since release and just hit an embarrassing hourly player count of zero recently. The game was fairly panned upon release for its weak story, limited characters, and rough online. Combine that with the fact that this fighting game was released about a week after Tekken 8 and it feels like Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash was destined to be dead on arrival.

The abysmal player count was captured recently by Twitter/X user @EstherGoddo_ who posted a screenshot showing that not a single player had logged onto the game in the last hour at the time this was observed. It can also be seen that the all-time peak for the game was only a measly 5,213 simultaneous players back at the time the game launched and the grim fate of this game only becomes more apparent. Compare these numbers to the aforementioned Tekken 8, which has yet to have its concurrent player numbers drop below 12,000 since it launched, and which also has an all-time peak of over 46,000.

There’s an argument to be made that Tekken is obviously a legacy fighting franchise with a lot of fans whereas this is the very first Jujutsu Kaisen game. That’s fair, but it’s still fairly unthinkable that a series as popular as JJK would fare this poorly on its first video game outing. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is in the top 10 highest-grossing anime films of all time and the manga has sold more than 90 million copies since debuting in 2018. This is one of the most popular series, anime or otherwise, in the world right now, and since Bandai Namco published both Tekken 8 and Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash, it does open up questions as to who’s responsible for this failure.
