Despite the ongoing legal drama between Halle Bailey and DDG, Kai Cenat has still chosen to work with the controversial YouTube star for his upcoming Streamer University event. During his most recent livestream, Cenat revealed that DDG will be a professor at his weekend-long content creation school. Since he knew the announcement would draw some backlash due to the recent allegations made against DDG, he explained why he still went through with the decision amid the controversy.
Kai Cenat Weighs In On Halle Bailey and DDG Drama
After teasing Streamer University for months, Kai Cenat went live on Twitch this weekend to finally reveal the list of content creators who will act as professors for his upcoming project. The first person he announced was DDG, a YouTube star, Twitch streamer, and rapper who has been his long-time friend. Despite them being close, fans didn’t know whether Cenat would still work with DDG for Streamer University since he was just accused of abuse by his ex-girlfriend, Halle Bailey. So, when he said DDG’s name, fans were shocked.
Instead of ignoring the controversy, Cenat addressed the Halle Bailey and DDG drama head-on. “I know there’s a lot of things going on, but you gotta understand bro,” Cenat began. “There is two sides of a story going on right now.” The streamer expressed feeling like he was stuck “in the middle” of the situation due to his friendship with DDG. After thinking it over, Cenat decided to continue working with him and see how “things play out.”
He didn’t explicitly reveal whether he thought the “Motion” rapper was innocent. However, he did reiterate that there are “two sides to every story.” Although he didn’t mention Bailey by name, Cenat did tell his viewers to “respect” everyone involved in this legal mess. “All you can do is pray for both sides,” he said.
Behind the Allegations
Kai Cenat’s announcement comes just days after Halle Bailey was granted a temporary restraining order against DDG. According to legal documents obtained by People, the actress accused her ex-boyfriend of verbally and physically abusing her in front of their infant son, Halo. She detailed several incidents in her filing. One of the most disturbing altercations involved DDG allegedly hitting her head against his car’s steering wheel. She provided photos claiming it left her with bruises and a chipped tooth.
As part of the temporary restraining order, DDG must remain 100 yards away from Bailey and their son. The Disney star has also requested sole custody of Halo while she films a protect in Italy this summer. On top of that, Bailey has asked the court to get DDG to stop posting about her or Halo on social media. She also wants DDG to attend a Batterer Intervention Program, which aims to teach violence prevention skills for those who have committed domestic violence offenses.
A court hearing is scheduled to take place on June 4.
