Kate Middletonย and Prince William set out new plans for the Easter festivities that would involve only the family of five as the Princess battles cancer. The Princess of Wales took the world by surprise on Friday when she shared a video message on social media announcing her cancer diagnosis. According to her, doctors discovered the cancer during post-operative tests following the planned abdominal surgery she underwent in January 2024. Herย conditionย was initially thought to be non-cancer related but now has become a major cause for concern, prompting the mom of three to commence chemotherapy.
Kate Middleton And Prince William Would Skip the Annual Easter Service
Amid her chemotherapy to beat cancer, Kate Middleton and her husband, Prince William, are looking into new plans for this year’s Easter.ย Peopleย reported in a statement that the family of five would skip the annual Easter service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle this year. Rather than grace the service alongside the other royals, they would spend Easter enjoying some quality family time.
Notably, the world had hoped for a chance to see the Princess at this year’s Easter service at St. George’s Chapel, as it’s been a family tradition for the royals to attend each year. Even more so, the initial statement from the royal family reported that the Princess would resume her royal duties sometime after Easter. Hence, many hoped the Easter service on March 31, 2024, would be a form of transition back into working life.
With the news of her cancer now public, Kensington Palace released an update on Kate’s expected return and overall health. In their statement, the palace disclosed that the Princess would onlyย return to her official dutiesย when her medical team clears her to do so. Until then, she remains in good spirits and focuses on making a full recovery.
Easter “Lite” Won’t Be Business as Usual
Last year, Kate Middleton and Prince William, along with their three children, attended the Easter service together at St. George’s Chapel. For the holiday event, they color-coordinated in blue outfits, which King Charles and Queen Camille also opted for. While the Waleses would not be present at the holiday service this year, the King and Queen would grace the occasion.
However, to conform to King Charles’ health requirements as he battles cancer, this year’s service, dubbed “Easter Lite,” would see a few changes as well. The turnout would be less than usual to minimize the King’s contact with other people on the advice of his medical team. Here’s to hoping the royal family scales through the health woes that have befallen them in recent times and gets to finally have one big, cheerful family gathering sometime in the near future.
