Kate Middleton‘s Summer trip to Balmoral alongside King Charles and the royal family is proving to be a breath of fresh air she needed to facilitate her recovery from cancer. Earlier this year, the Princess of Wales and the British monarch shocked the world with the announcement of their respective cancer diagnosis. While the two have bonded over their health predicaments, their joint public appearances have reduced to the minimal. In fact, while King Charles has strived to resume his official duties to some extent as the British monarch, Kate has taken a different approach, doing most of her work behind the scenes.
These days though, she’s slowly easing back into the public life, with rare appearances at the Trooping the Colors in June, and at Wimbledon a month later. Just one month after racking up a standing ovation at Wimbledon, Kate Middleton made another notable public appearance, attending church service with her husband Prince Williams, their oldest son Prince George, as well as King Charles and Queen Camilla.

The family stepped out on Sunday, August 25 for the service at Craithie Kirk, honoring their usual family tradition of attending the Scottish church while visiting Balmoral on their annual private trip. Snaps of the royal squad arriving at the Craithie Kirk in their respective vehicles have since surfaced. While King Charles arrived in a separate car with Camilla by his side, Prince William drove his family in a Land Rover, with Kate Middleton beside him, and George reclining in the back seat.
In her light brown tartan trench coat and a felt feather hat, Kate Middleton looked relaxed on the Balmoral outing, chatting happily with her husband. Body language expert Judi James has analyzed the princess’ composure on the ride, noting that she appeared to enjoy every moment of it having spent most of her year indoors. The expert explained,
“The important ‘tell’ comes from the very distinct dimple we can see at the side of her cheek, which suggests she’s truly enjoying the outing as well as the company in the car. The hat with its feather gives a jaunty look too, making Kate look positive and upbeat here.”
The Princess of Wales has stayed away from public eyes for months, owing to her successive health predicaments. In January, the royal underwent a planned abdominal surgery for an undisclosed reason. Weeks later Kate Middleton revealed her cancer diagnosis, letting the world know she would take time off to recover completely. While the royal mom has slowly eased back into her life as a working royal, she’s made only a few public appearances so far. Yet these few appearances have been a ray of hope to the public, hoping for her swift recovery and successful return to her full capacity as the Princess of Wales.
