Kim Kardashian walked the red carpet at the LACMA Art+Film Gala over the weekend. Her appearance raised eyebrows and had eyes popping as she sported a very revealing look that accentuated her curvy physique. However, instead of talking about her low-cut dress and shorter hairstyle, it was her choice of jewelry that seemed to garner the most attention. The reality star stepped out sporting a large amethyst cross pendant hanging from a pearl necklace that once belonged to fashion icon and beloved member of the royal family, Princess Diana.
Page Six reports that Kim Kardashian stunned as she posed for photos wearing a skintight white dress made by Gucci. The floor-length gown featured a plunging necklace that flaunted her chest and toned arms. It also included a cinched waist and a cream-colored cap that she draped over her arms.
The SKIMS founder also opted for a much shorter hairstyle. Her dark locks were slicked back in elegant, sleek strands that fell just above her shoulders. The ends flipped outward, and a curled bang fell just over her forehead. Her glam makeup featured smoky eyes and light pink lips. She finished off the look with white nails.

Of course, it was the stunning cross necklace that caught the eye. The piece of jewelry was purchased by Kardashian at Sotheby’s annual Royal and Noble action in 2023. She reportedly paid nearly $200,000 for the iconic cross, which weighs 5.25 carats.
Meanwhile, not everyone was a fan of how Kim wore Diana’s stunning necklace.
“It’s disappointing that Princess Diana’s cross should end up with someone of KK’s ilk! She should fire her stylist as well because she’s wearing far too many necklaces at once. She is doing a disservice to the iconic cross which should be worn alone as it is a statement piece and it would look far classier,” one person commented.
“Why would anyone think that a cross should be worn with their stuff hanging out? Very disrespectful and shameful,” another stated.
“What a disgrace,” a third comment read.
Royal fans may have recognized the piece as having once belonged to the late Princess Diana. The Princess of Wales famously wore the cross with a much longer pearl chain when she attended a charity event in London in 1987, ten years before her tragic death.
Diana styled the pendant with a much different look. While Kim opted for a body-baring gown, the princess sported a black and purple velvet Catherine Walker Victorian gown with the necklace.
The amethyst cross isn’t the only piece of celebrity history that Kim Kardashian owns. She has also purchased the fedora that Michael Jackson wore in his 1988 Smooth Criminal video and Elizabeth Taylor’s diamond and jade bracelet by Lorraine Schwartz. She also has pieces that previously belonged to icons such as Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Kennedy in her collection, per CNN.
