Konami and Bloober Team have announced that they are planning a new game following the release of Silent Hill 2. While it might seem likely that the new project will be another Silent Hill title, Bloober Team’s statement only confirms that the game will be based on one of Konami’s intellectual properties, leaving its exact nature up in the air.
In a press release, the Bloober Team stated, “The trust built upon the success of Silent Hill 2 laid the foundation for signing another agreement for a new project.” This deal intends to expand internal development and keep Konami as the publisher like before.
Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno commented on the partnership, saying that the collaboration between the team and Konami went quite well with Silent Hill 2, and by sharing knowledge and experience, the team has high hopes for its future projects. He added that there aren’t any details the company can reveal at this time, but Babieno is certain that fans will be excited about it when they find out. More information will come out when “the time is right” so don’t hold your breath
Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2 was released last October and received positive reviews, and we called it the “King of the Hill.” The game was noted for its faithful retelling of the original while introducing updates to modernize the experience.
In addition to this new project, Bloober Team is also working on Cronos: The New Dawn, a game set in 1980s Communist Poland, a wasteland affected by a plague known as “The Change.” It’s scheduled for release later this year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
No further details about the new collaboration between Konami and Bloober Team have been revealed, and it is unclear whether the project will return to the Silent Hill series or explore another of Konami’s properties.
