Konami has discovered a bug in their recent blockbuster hit Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and is telling players how to avoid it.

Maybe sit her out for missions 29 and 42

When players bring the character Quiet along as a companion for Mission 29 or Mission 42 there is possible glitch that may occur, corrupting the player’s game save. Specifically, the bug interferes with the game’s auto-save function, preventing further progression and rendering the existing save file corrupt. Konami has stated this glitch can occur on all platforms of the game, andย has issued an apology regarding the glitch, and has most likely started working on ways to patch this issue out in the future, but has yet to announce plans for immediate fixes. As of now, there is no known way to recover the corrupted data caused by the glitch.

Blockbuster titles launching with technical issues is nothing new, despite this hiccup Metal Gear Solid 5’s launch can be seen as smooth with very minor problems. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is an open-world stealth/action game that launched September 1, 2015 to much commercial success and a bevy of near-perfect/perfect scores from critics. It is the final entry in the long running series by Hideo Kojima, who has left Konami for reasons unknown.
