More ICE arrests are ongoing nationwide, with each new case drawing concern. A recent detention of a Latino man in Washington, D.C., as he desperately begged to be with his family, has again sparked outrage at Trump’s brutal immigration crackdown.
A passerby caught the incident on camera and shared it on Reddit. The clip begins with six officers, four of whom were masked, pulling over a blue SUV during a traffic stop. On getting out of the vehicle, the driver appears to speak with the security personnel, although the conversation is inaudible.
After about 12 seconds of interacting with the agents, the man attempts to flee, but is immediately tackled by two officers. The officers pin him to the ground, and he’s seen struggling to defend himself saying, “Get off me.”
In no time, all six security agents mount the man to subdue him. All the while the ICE agents restrained him, the victim is heard crying and desperately pleading for his life speaking Spanish.
According to a Redditor who later translated the victim’s words, he begged, “Please, I didn’t do anything, man. I’m working. I want to be with my family. I’m not a criminal. I’m going to work.”
Despite the man’s repeated pleas, the police kept the man pinned on the floor for over 45 seconds as pedestrians and cars passed by. Before the clip ends, the victim is heard telling the authorities, “You’re hurting me.”
The video quickly went viral and netizens amassed in numbers describing the arrest as heartbreaking while condemning the administration.
A social media user remarked, “His screams are so sad. Taking him away from his family is so wrong. Shame on all the Latinas who supported Trump and the white folk too.”
A second observer expressed similar sentiment about how heartbreaking the incident was writing, “This is painful to watch. So many men to kidnap one man with a misdemeanor that will get no opportunity to plead his case.”
The user continued by lashing out at the government. “Trump should be dragged out of office along with his entire cabinet in this same manner,” the observer added.
Another netizen chimed in, “This dialogue is f**king heart-wrenching. “I haven’t done anything!” guilty only of providing for a family he loves.”
This other Redditor wrote, “It’s insane that people who are on the Epstein list are safer than people who don’t have proper paperwork.” Another comment read, “Every clip of these is so painful. It’s vile. It’s racist. It’s fascist. It’s evil.”
The victim in the video is yet to be identified, and his current whereabouts remain unclear.
