Lil Nas X‘s facial paralysis has got everyone worried. On Monday, April 14, the “Old Town Road” singer shared an alarming video from the hospital, announcing that he had recently experienced a health scare. The incident involved him losing control of half of his face. Although he told his followers he would be okay, fans can’t help but feel concerned for him.
An Update From the Hospital
Fans learned about Lil Nas X’s facial paralysis from his latest Instagram reel. In the video, the star could be seen resting in bed while wearing a blue hospital gown and a Von Dutch baseball cap. “Soooo lost control of the right side of my face ðŸ˜,” he captioned the clip.
Lil Nas X tried to smile at the camera but could only give fans a partial grin since half his facial muscles were immobile. Despite his condition, the rapper tried to keep a positive attitude about everything. He wanted to laugh over how ridiculous the whole situation was. However, he quickly realized that his facial paralysis made that difficult as well. “I can’t even laugh right, bro,” he said. “What the f*ck. Ah! Oh my God!”
He continued letting out a few small giggles before closing out the video. After seeing the clip, several celebrities expressed their concerns for Lil Nas X in the comments section. For example, Empire actress Taraji P. Henson told him, “Get well baby,” alongside a series of prayer emojis. Comedian Wanda Sykes expressed a similar sentiment. She reminded Lil Nas X that he should listen to his body and get plenty of rest to get better.
Behind Lil Nas X’s Facial Paralysis
If you’re wondering what could have possibly caused Lil Nas X’s facial paralysis, he’s yet to explain. After seeing his condition, some fans theorized the musician could be having a stroke. However, others speculated he may be experiencing Bell’s palsy. According to Mayo Clinic, the condition involves facial paralysis on one side of the face. Since it’s usually temporary, they hoped Lil Nas X would return to normal in a few weeks.
Some fans also thought he could be experiencing Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, which is facial paralysis caused by a virus. In June 2022, Justin Bieber announced that he had developed the condition. Similar to the “Montero” rapper, he was unable to form a full smile. However, he was also unable to blink on one side of his face.
Due to his diagnosis, the singer postponed the remaining dates of his Justice world tour before he eventually canceled them all together. Months after announcing his condition, Bieber posted a photo of him smiling again, confirming he had recovered from his facial paralysis.
Hopefully, Lil Nas X will experience the same outcome and be back to his old self soon.
