Mario jumps backward up a staircase as Solid Snake phases through a door. When you’re trying to beat a game as fast as possible, sometimes things get weird. Trying to go hitless in every Souls game is one thing, but there’s something even more impressive: donating what you can to fight cancer. Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ), GDQ‘s annual speedrunning marathon, returns this weekend. The goal? Raise funds for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. GDQ raised over $2.5 million for charity at last year’s event, and with a few more open hearts and pocketbooks, this year could top it. Here’s what you need to know about Awesome Games Done Quick 2025.

Running from January 5-12, AGDQ 2025 brings together a legion of speedrunners. Though they play everything from RPGs and stealth games to racers and Metroidvanias, one thing unites these players: their devotion to the cause. Whether you’re in for the six-hour speedrun of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth or you’re keeping an eye out for the classics, there’s something for every gamer. The list of games played in the marathon is long, but here’s a sampling of what you can look forward to:

  • Pikmin
  • Portal 2
  • Mega Man X3
  • Ori and the Blind Forest
  • Astro Bot
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
  • Tomb Raider (2013)
  • Alan Wake 2: Night Springs
  • LEGO The Hobbit
  • Turo 2: Seeds of Evil (Remastered)
  • Ninja Gaiden 2
  • Super Meat Boy
  • Metroid Prime
  • Yakuza
  • Unicorn Overlord
  • Spyro: Reignited Trilogy
  • F-Zero GX
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • The Last of Us Remake
  • Elden Ring

By investing in cancer prevention and early detection, the Prevent Cancer Foundation is fighting every day to save lives. Donating during AGDQ 2025 is a great way to give back and help others in their fight. If there’s one thing braver than 1v1ing Malenia on a dance pad, it’s putting in the work to make a difference IRL. Getting a top-tier speedrunning marathon? That’s the cherry on top. You can check out AGDQ 2025’s stream throughout the week on GDQ’s official Twitch channel.
